JULIEN DROLON: Phil So Good
by Juan Manila
Manila, Philippines

I first met Julien Drolon during the Rio De Manila BrasiliPinas event at The Power Plant last March of this year. I saw him and his band perform some quite good original songs. I was impressed of their music. But before I met Julien, I was kinda on the doubt if this French guy could really make agood impression as a reggae performing artist. But when I saw him that night, Wow! Julien Drolon’s music reminds me of the great Filipino funk band, POT. Yeah! That’s the band of the equally talented Karl Roy.
The song Phil So Good has a flavor of POT and with a touch of funky sound of Parokya ni Edgar, too.
Well, based on their live performance that I saw, I think Julien Drolon will certainly have a big piece on the local music industry. Julien Drolon’s sound is universal and refreshing too. It’s also nice to see a foreign blood spreading nice words and singing songs for our country. It makes us proud to be Filipino!
Peace Through Music also has a positive message and is a beautiful song. It has a catchy melody that will make your body move while listening with it.
Julien Drolon is the April 2011 cover of Orange Magazine TV, where yours truly, have an exclusive one on one interview with Julien.
Julien Drolon is currently touring some of the local radio programs in the metro promoting the single Phil So Good.
Here are Julien Drolon SM Mall Tour schedule this May: May 6- SM Clark; May 7- SM Bacoor; May 13- SM Southmall; May 15- SM Muntinlupa; May 21- SM Santa Rosa; and May 22 – SM Bicutan.
Don’t forget to like the band on Facebook and to follow Julien on Twitter as more great news are to come.
If Julien Drolon will go on mainstream, it is not quite an easy path. But with continuous perseverance, they will reach the road they’re looking for. Good luck on your musical journey, Julien Drolon. And yes, the Philippines is Oh So Good!
