Since its inception 5 years ago, the Sikat Pinoy National Food Fair has attracted a growing number of foodies who eagerly look forward to the opportunity to stock up on their favorite regional delicacies, special spices and condiments, health products, and many more. The Sikat Pinoy National Food Fair is a much-awaited event for foodies missing the comfort food that they grew up with, as well as those with adventuresome taste buds looking for new twists to traditional Pinoy dishes.
You don’t need to go that very far. For 5 consecutive days (March 15-19) at the Megatrade Halls of the SM Megamall, exhibitors will be offering all that you’ve been craving for from regional delicacies to kitchen basics, as well as fresh produce like organic fruits and vegetables as well as fish and other marine products.
The 5-day fair is both a retail and order-taking event, so institutional buyers and traders are also invited to discover up-and-coming food SMEs for new offerings for supermarket shelves. Corporate consumers like hotels and restaurants will have the opportunity to meet new producers and negotiate with existing suppliers.
The 2017 Sikat Pinoy National Food Fair is a project of the Department of Trade and Industry – Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (DTI-BDTP) as part of 2017 series on Sikat Pinoy national domestic trade fairs.
Over 200 small and medium enterprises from all over the country have been carefully screened to ensure that they have meet the stringent standards set by the DTI-BDTP, in keeping with the theme, “Piling-Piling Pagkaing Pilipino.”
Beyond the food exhibits, a program of craft and cooking demonstrations as well as lectures have also been lined up.
March 16: Craft Demonstration by Ms. Naty Ocampo Castro (10;30 AM – 12 NN); Cooking Demonstration with Ms. Rheeza Santiago-Hernandez (1:30 PM – 3:30 PM); Cooking Demonstration with Chef DJ Santos (4:30 PM – 6:30 PM).
March 17: Lecture by the DOST-FOOD & NUTRITION RESEARCH INSTITUTE (FNRI) (10;30 AM – 12 NN); Lecture by Mr. Steven Cua, President of Philippine Amalgamated Supermarkets Association (1:30 PM – 3:30 PM); Cooking Demonstration with Mrs. Lourdes S. Rivera (4:30 PM – 6:30 PM).
March 18: Lecture by PASAY CITY COOPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT OFFICE (10;30 AM – 12 NN); Cooking Demonstration by Baguio Cooking Oil with Chef Boy Logro (1:30 PM – 3:30 PM); Cooking Demonstration with Chef DJ Santos (4:30 PM – 6:30 PM).
March 19: Cooking Demonstration by Sliver Swan / First PGMC Enterprises Inc. with Chef Raygan P. Salandanan (10;30 AM – 12 NN); Cookign Demonstration with Chef Eau Lautriso (1:30 PM – 3:30 PM).
DTI-BDTP Director Rhodora M. Leano notes, “In this way,a spiring food entrepreneurs will have opportunity to improve their practical skills and enhance their technical knowledge by learning from the experts.”
These sessions are free and open to the public. The fair is open from 9 AM to 10 PM. Admission is free.
