The 48 Miss Philippines Earth 2013 candidates showcased their traditional costumes for the Miss Philippines Earth 2013 Cultural Night held at SMDC Showroom in Mall of Asia, Pasay City last April 19. And the winners of Miss Philippines Earth 2013 Cultural Night came from Misamis Occidental, Zamboanga City, and Cebu City who bagged the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards, respectively.
Teffanie Lene Llamada, Miss Cebu City; Nancy Leonard, Miss Zamboanga City; and Kristel Suizo, Miss Misamis Occidental, brought home not just medals and accolades but most of all, prestige for their hometowns. Other winners of the night includes Miss New Placenta by Psalmstre-Miss Misamis Occidental (Kristel Suizo); Miss New Placenta Advance Care Formula-Miss Bogo City (Mira-Mae Dimmerling); Miss Ever Bilena-Miss Muntinlupa (Ferina Juny-Ann De Paz); Miss Ever Bilena Advance Cosmetics and Miss MyPhone, both won by Miss Zamboanga City (Nancy Leonard).
The beautiful Miss Philippines Earth 2013 delegates, in partnership with the SM Supermarket, Savemore Market, and SM Hypermarket, visited SM branches to spread environmental awareness and green advocacies. Together, they have reached people from different walks of life and talking to them on how little changes in lifestyle can have a big impact on the Earth. One of which is by bringing your own SM Greenbag when shopping at SM to lessen the possibility of having poorly disposed single-use throw-away plastic bags ending up clogging waterways and causing devastating floods. The girls also hand over various indigenous seedlings in SM Greenbags to spectators in every event to encourage them to start planting. The combination of seedlings and SM Greenbag is a nice jumpstart for people to make that lifestyle shift; for them to be encouraged to plant trees and to Join the M.O.B. (MyOwnBag).
And on the cultural night organized by the SM Food Group, the girls will shine like stars amidst a night sky showcasing their cultural heritage, proudly wearing their hometown’ traditional costume, and proving that true Filipina beauty does not lie in physical beauty alone but is found in what is fought for. It was indeed a night of good food and drinks in the company of the country’s beauties for a cause. It was a night that highlights not what SM and Miss Philippines-Earth have done for the Earth so far but what they and everyone else who attended the gala pledge to do for Mother Earth.
For years, SM Supermarket, Savemore Market, and SM Hypermarket have served as platforms for Miss Philippines-Earth and Miss Earth International in spreading environmental awareness to more and more people in every event. SM organizes an array of activities for the delegates to be able to interact and educate different kinds of people on how they can help in the preservation of the environment in their own little way. SM also brings the delegates to the countryside to experience the beauty of the Philippines as they continue their mission by participating in eco-friendly activities in the rural setting. Hand in hand, the partnership between the SM Food Group and Miss Earth continues to blossom; bringing us closer to a cleaner and greener tomorrow.
Coronation night will be held on May 19.
