Pres. Noynoy Aquino acknowledges Black Eyed Peas member Apl.de.ap for being a good Filipino who keeps on supporting the less fortunate ones by putting up a foundation to help build schools. “I have to admit from time to time, that I enjoy and (sometimes) dance to Apl.de.ap’s hip hop anthems. Knowing that the man who’s singing on the record has consistently given back to this nation,” the President of the Philippines said on his video message to Apl.
“One person can not change the world but if I help someone here, you help someone here, and come together, then we make a difference,” Apl keeps on saying. The Apl.de.ap Foundation is founded to help build schools, built awareness and funds to create the YOU CAN BE ANYTHING campaign.
Last week, his dedication was proven once more when he and his Team Apl went to Tondo to distribute food to those residents affected by Typhoon Maring.
Joining him on this advocacy are his Voice Philippines (VoicePH) talents. Corazon Dela Cruz, Janice Javier, Thor Dulay, Thristan Perfecto, Penelope Matanguihan, Cara Manglapus and Jessica Reynoso help in distributing food like sandwiches, in Tondo last August 22.
Apl.de.ap is a Hollywood rapper, record, producer, musician, artist, Grammy Awardee, philanthropist and advocate, yet according to Thor, he is such a big artist who doesn’t have a ‘star complex’. “I thank the Lord for giving us coach Apl,” Thor added when we sat down with Team Apl on a Meet-and-Greet dinner prepared for Apl’s group.
“We are very much inspired by coach Apl’s simplicity, and one of the things that I learned from him is humility.”
True to Thor’s word, we have witnessed how the bonding and special relationship between Team Apl grew under Apl’s mentoring and the learned the value of confidence, friendship, brotherhood, and family relationships.
“Matapos man ang #TheVoicePH, sino man ang manalo, di kami mag-aaway away, yan natutunan namin kay coach,” (Even if The Voice ends, whoever wins, we will not fight with each other. That is what we have learned from coach Apl) Janice told us over dinner.
Meanwhile, the Apl.de.ap Foundation together with Red Ribbon and Franklin Baker Company launched the “Red Ribbon Macaroons for a Cause” last July and he is proud to share that the campaign is doing great. According to Apl is the best collaboration that his foundation is having. The “Red Ribbon Macaroons for a Cause” was launched to help bridge the education gap in the Philippines. Also dubbed as “In Tune For Education“, this campaign will help start building schools in Zamboanga by helping these organizations sell 4.2 million packs of Macaroons for a Cause. For every Php 50 pack of macaroons containing 10 pieces each sold at Red Ribbon Bakeshops nationwide, 14% or Php 7 will go directly to the Apl.de.ap Foundation to help in building a public high school that will pave the way for students to gain access to education and pursue interests in becoming global professionals in the field of music and technology.
