Ethiopia, known as the cradle of the world’s first inhabitants, is a landlocked country in Africa and is the second most populous nation in the continent, next to Nigeria. A vast land for wild and feral animals, Ethiopia is also home to a number of ethnic tribes that is part of the 100 million population of the region considered from which modern humans first set out for the Middle East and places beyond.
Ethiopia is a land of natural contrasts, with its vast fertile West, jungles, and numerous rivers.

Asian Air Safari Season 12 premiered last May 23 with a screening of the two-part special on Ethiopia at Shang Cineplex where guests enjoyed the ultimate cultural experience – with Ethiopian Airlines flying in the iconic coffee ceremony, followed by a feast of authentic Ethiopian cuisine, which included the staple, injera. Cultural performers also flew all the way from Addis Ababa, Ethipoia’s capital and largest city, to showcase their unique songs and dances.
Ethiopia is the place of origin for the coffee bean which originated from the place called Kefa (which was one of the 14 provinces in the old Ethiopian administration).
Ethiopian Ambassador H.E. Shiferaw Jarso, and Ethiopian Airlines Country Manager Solomon Bekele welcomed guests to the occasion.
“Ethiopian Airlines is nearing its second-year of operations in Manila. Our routes connecting the Philippines to Ethiopia are important avenues to bridge the gap between the two countries in terms of tourism, trade, cultural exchange, and economic partnerships. We believe our mission as an Airline is beyond just selling tickets. That is why we have done a variety of efforts with different local partners to introduce Ethiopia to the Philippines and the Philippines to Ethiopia. We are happy to share that we are looking forward to provide more exciting offerings for our clients in the Philippines this 2017,” says Bekele.
The show’s new season resonates with the theme, “Tracing Our Routes, Unraveling A Diverse World”, which celebrates how various nations and races are able to find a common ground despite having very distinct cultures and religious beliefs. It will also feature unexplored destinations from Israel, Italy, Sweden, Australia, Japan, the Philippines and more.
Asian Air Safari is the only aviation-themed travel show in Asia.
The show also strongly advocates for the aviation industry and aims to inspire new generations of aspiring pilots to pursue their dreams of flying.
Season 12 of Asian Air Safari begins June 11, 2017, Sunday at 8:30PM on the ABS-CBN News Channel, with replays every Saturday at 2:00PM.
