Four celebrated Filipino grand finalists of the recently wrapped up talent competition, Asia’s Got Talent, were warmly welcomed on their comeback, May 21, at URBN Bar and Kitchen, Bonifacio Global City
With all the victories achieved, the contestants, namely, El Gamma Penumbra, Junior New System, Gerphil Flores, and Gwyneth Dorado, came home with humility despite their exposures on a global stage surrounded with flashing lights.
El Gamma Penumbra greatly captivated the attention of the judges as well as the viewers who witnessed them performed an incredible shadow play at the grand finals night, resulting them to be announced as the grand winner.
From hip-hop dancing, El Gamma switched to a different genre that according to them required frequent brainstorming and adjustments including 22-hour rehearsal-2-hour sleep, in order to come up with the best concept for their performance.
“Hindi namin alam kung papano po gawin ‘yung shadow play, i-search n’yo po sa google wala po kayong makikita kung pa’no ginagawa ‘yung shadow play, as in we started from scratch and then group effort po talaga kung pa’no namin madi-discover kung papaano ‘yung shadow play,” the group shared.
Regarded as David Foster’s “Golden Girl”, the classical crossover singer, Gerphil Flores clarified that no plans have been offered to her yet by the judge and that she only got to interact with him during the presscon after the grand finals night.
Further, with her passion to promote the classical music, she said, “isa po talaga sa goal ko ay ‘yung maibahagi sa mga kabataan yung beauty ng classical music at sa pamamagitan po ng crossover singing, hindi po sa opera kundi po sa crossover, meaning, pwede ko pong kantahin ‘yung mga modernong awitin sa pamamagitan ng pag-awit ng classical, classical approach.”
After the big break, three among the four finalists are planning to continue school matters while El Gamma will pursue shadow play and announced to perform in corporate events locally and in abroad soon.
Finalists are also thanking the sponsors including AXN, Fibisco, Cherifer PGM 10-22, New KFC Kentucky Specials, Security Bank, and Cignal TV, who generously extended help to them.
