Best Gourmet Burgers Down South

Like burgers? Love movies? Have the best of both worlds with Blockbuster Burgers by Crimson Hotel Filinvest City, Manila. Visit Crimson Hotel’s Cafe Eight anytime this April and get yourself a fully-stuffed burger named after a classic blockbuster film. Let me warn you guys: for diners like me who can only consume small servings or a single regular-sized fastfood burger in one sitting, one order of any Blockbuster Burger menu item can already be considered good for two people (except the Titanic burger, which a minimum of four people can finish, ideally…hence its name). The Titanic burger’s got: Half kilo […]

Coachella Feels With Wanderland

Wish granted! Thanks to Globe Telecom, I had the opportunity to blog about a music festival. It’s not just a simple, small-time event…it’s an annual, major kind of thing. I love attending music-filled happenings (Coachella music fest is still on my bucket list), as I enjoy those moments of discovering fresh talent and watching legends play live. What I love about Wanderland 2017 is not just being given special access to feature it here on the JME blog, but the new location that is very close to (my) home. The Filinvest City grounds was so perfect for Wanderland! Moreover, I […]

Like in Vietnam, When in Alabang

I wasn’t that familiar with Vietnamese cuisine (I’m more into Thai, Korean and Japanese), until I grabbed the opportunity to have “A Taste of Vietnam” at Crimson Hotel Filinvest City, Manila’s Cafe 8 restaurant. The hotel invited media personalities and bloggers last March 10, the very first day of this Vietnamese dining showcase led by three Vietnam-based guest chefs Nguyen Thi Khanh Ngan, Tran Kim Hoang Trong, and Vo Van Chien. Savour Vietnamese dishes as we bring you three chefs taking over Cafe 8 and serve you authentic dishes on March 10 -18. Call 863-2222 for reservations. #CrimsonFilinvestCity #TasteofVietnam #CrimsonHotel […]

Cusina For The Kitchen Goddess

Thanks for the actual size samples, Cusina! This is my first ever blog post for 2017 here on JME, and this all-natural brand of dishwashing liquid deserves to be the main focus of my “buena mano” featured review.     I can get very, very lazy when it comes to dishwashing, but not anymore thanks to this amazing product. Among the three scents (great packaging by the way 👏🏻), Ginger Yuzu Peel is our favorite (“our” meaning me, Mom, and our household helper). They may have milder fruity scents, but all Cusina variants are tough on grease as well as […]

90’s RnB Rewind with SWV and TLC in Manila

As a loud and proud 90’s kid, my taste in music wasn’t limited to grunge and pop. I’m also a fan of 90’s R&B, hence I was one of those sentimental Pinoys who felt the excitement of finally seeing two legendary female R&B groups perform for the first time in Manila – SWV and TLC. Very nostalgic indeed for me, and it’s because I’m watching this once-in-a-lifetime concert plus it’s my first in a long, long, long time to be at the Smart Araneta Coliseum a.k.a. The Big Dome (since Disney On Ice in the 1980s…oh well, #southgirlproblems). I’m just […]

The Dawn: Nothing Beats the Orig

I would say 2016 is turning out to be another great year for OPM. The first ever Pinoy rock band that I enjoyed listening to while growing up in the 80’s, The Dawn, just welcomed back lead guitarist Francis “Kiko” Reyes (a.k.a. DJ Francis Brew of NU107) and bassist Carlos “Caloy” Balcells. They recently started their series of gigs with Kiko and Caloy and I attended one of them, which happened to be a free show in a nearby mall. It’s actually my very first time to see the live performance of these legends (plus guitarist Rommel “Sancho” Sanchez, who […]

SM CINEMA FAMILY MOVIE DAY

Family Movie Time is Quality Time

Together with my daughter and her nanny, I attended the media launch of the SM Cinema Family Movie Day last July 2. I just love it when work and leisure come together and I get to spend at least half of the weekend doing both just to be with them, especially somewhere very close to home (venue was SM Southmall, which is only a 10-minutes trike ride away). We were one of those early bird guests and the program hasn’t started yet, hence we decided to go around the event area to see how my mini me (who easily gets […]

GREEN DAY'S AMERICAN IDIOT IN MANILA BY GLOBE AND 9 WORKS THEATRICAL

That Time of My Life… As An Idiot

I’m grateful for my concert-like theater experience with American Idiot just recently at the Globe Iconic Store, Bonifacio High Street Ampitheater. Why I got so interested in being an Idiot ready to rock for one night? I’m a 90’s kid and f***ing proud of it! Green Day has been one of my favorite bands since my student years and it all started with their hit track Basket Case. Other songs of this legendary rock band on my playlist are Minority, Wake Me Up When September Ends, and Time of Your Life. Another 90’s-kid factor that convinced me to be there and […]

One Fun Slidefest Summer

I went to Slidefest in Filinvest City Alabang twice last year because I won in online contests. In each visit I brought different folks along with me (first one was my family, second were my former colleague and her squad). This year is my first time to go as part of my writing job and first time as well to bond with a long time gal pal and her 7-year-old son. The team behind Slidefest Philippines pioneered the family-friendly, slip-and-slide event in the country. It’s the same dynamic group who came up with The Walking Dead-inspired Outbreak Manila and the […]
