For the nth time, Patrick Zulueta, Brand Manager – BPI Express Online, Bank of the Philippine Islands, never fails to amaze us. Patrick, together with Jomar Mislang, Creative Director and Web Master, Bank of the Philippine Islands; Frederick Faustino, Head, Mobile Banking, Bank of the Philippine Islands; and Noel Alejo, Special Projects and New Ventures Section Head, Bank of the Philippine Islands have become one of our good friends when they started inviting us, with other social media guys, to their regular ‘kapihan‘ treats. It’s their way of showing their appreciation to us because they regularly see us whenever BPI has big events and we always bumped into each other.
The regular afternoon meet, sometimes over milk tea, are casual conversations that continues until dinner time in one of the restaurants in Makati that Pat‘s group reserved.
We remember when Noel invited us to have an afternoon snack in Ayala Triangle. That is where we first met Jomar. They introduced their latest in mobile banking technology, on it’s beta testing period, the BPI Mobile Wallet – an application on mobile phones (iPhone, BlackBerry and Android Smartphones) that allows users (BPI account holders) to make purchases, by tapping the phone using near field communication (NFC) technology through a device connected to a merchant’s POS (Point-of-Sale) that will introduce Filipino consumers to a cashless society. We also remembered that because we were so thrilled with it, we opened our new BPI account the day after. Noel is now on a different department and is currently at Laoag for work, he later told us.
It was during BPI 24/7 Banking 1st Get Out More campaign launch when, if we still remember that right, was the first time we’ve seen and met Patrick. The launch was held at BPI 102 Paseo. (RELATED: GET OUT MORE)
It was at a McDonald‘s event in Greenbelt 1 in 2011 when we first met Frederick when BPI and the popular fast-food chain partnered for the launch of the first cashless delivery system. (RELATED: BPI and McDonald’s launch first cashless delivery system)
Last year, during their pre-Christmas treat for the bloggers, we’ve met new BPI 24/7 team, Jeff Gonzales and Nikki. Together with PB Network team and Patrick’s team, we shared good laughs over beer and tapas at The Plantation Bar along Carlos Palanca Street in Makati.
Today, Patrick and Virginia Brocka, Digital Marketing Head, Bank of the Philippine Islands welcomed us bloggers at PINO & PIPINO restaurant at Jupiter Street. We arrived past 5 in the afternoon while Raffy Pedrajita, Ian Bacungan, Marlon Magtira and Rodel Flordeliz arrived ahead of us. We stepped in at PINO just in time as Rochelle Sy Chua and her friend arrived. Reg Ramos, Ted Claudio and Florencio Jusay, Jr. came afterwards.
We were served with cold San Mig Light (for the boys), fruit shakes (for the girls), and cheese sticks as appetizer while we waited for the Bagnet Kare-Kare, Tokwa’t Baboy, Crispy Shrimp, and Ginataang Bopis for our dinner meal. Hens, the waiter was very attentive when we approached him and asked for the beer’s price list.
The conversation went by from personal kumustahan to how was the food and what keeps us busy. Non-dull moment as usual.
Jeff and Patrick gave Ted a quick introduction of BEA Online (RELATED: 12 Things You Need to Know More with BEA Online) and How to Enroll in a BPI Express Online. (RELATED: Top 8 reasons to switch banking to BPI 24/7)
It was past 8 in the evening when most of us decided to call it a night. Such a lame decision because everyone knows it’s a Friday night!
Anyways, all of these are through the efforts of Patrick and his team to make the connection with us bloggers keeps to stay strong and to be updated on what’s happening in their banking technology. And yes, we truly appreciate this kind of gestures. Simple and casual. To Pat’s team, thank you very much!
