Two returning coaches headline this year’s Juan for Fun Backpacker Challenge 2015 together with three new adventure seekers to the list.
Iya Villania-Arellano, Joyce Pring, and Champ Lui Pio join Jude Bacalso and Bogart the Explorer as Adventure Coaches in Cebu Pacific Air Juan for Fun Backpacker Challenge 2015.
Iya, Joyce, Jude, Champ, and Bogart are all adventure seekers who will stay in touch and cheer for their respective teams through social media during the duration of the backpacker challenge. Follow their adventures with the hashtag #JuanForFun2015.
In preparation for the backpacker challenge, all five of the adventure coaches went to Siquijor Island this weekend to get themselves ready as mentors and coaches for this year’s batch of Juan for Fun 2015 contestants. TV host Iya, DJ Joyce, musician Champ, YouTube star Bogart, and travel writer Jude were given a task and each paired with two media members to finish a mini-challenge race all the way from Capilay Spring Park, Solangon Beach, Balete Tree, and Coco Grove within the island.
The mini-challenge was a blast and communicated bonding moments for the five well-known personalities and the media and bloggers who raced with them.
The biggest, most exciting travel adventure for students is back!
Already on its 4th Season, Juan for Fun Backpacker Challenge 2015 encourages college students, form a team with three members, and participate the contest by simply submitting video entries of them answering to the question “What makes you the team to beat in this year’s Juan for Fun?”
So if you are a college student, 18-23 years old, and a Philippine resident (it doesn’t matter if you were born Filipino or not), and itching to go on a one-of-a-kind journey, then group yourselves into three, submit your video entries to www.juanforfun.com or visit Juan for Fun’s official Facebook at www.facebook.com/CebuPacificJFF page for more details. Deadline for submission of entries will be until May 2, 2015 only.
Three finalists with the most awesome videos will automatically be included in the challenge. To complete the five competing groups, an online voting from May 16 to May 20 will take place to determine the last two qualifying teams.
“This is our fourth year holding the Juan for Fun Backpacker Challenge, and every year, we get inspired by the enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and energy of the student teams who audition. We look forward to watching their videos, and taking them on an adventure that can start a lifetime of adventures,” Cebu Pacific Vice President for Marketing and Distribution, Candice Iyog said.
Last year, Team Tuklas composed of Floyd Patricio, Esme Escoto, and Gab Saplagio from the University of the Philippines Diliman outplayed four other teams to be declared the big winners in the Cebu Pacific Juan for Fun Challenge Year 3.

Travel tips from the pros
This year’s celebrity adventure coaches will join as team mentors of five teams from the search.
The Siquijor Island mini-challenge was a first-hand experience for the five adventure coaches of Juan for Fun 2015.
Bogart the Explorer
“Get the opportunity to learn something about the places they’ll be visiting, enabling them to view that destination from a unique perspective.”
“Learning is a two way street: I was reminded that letting loose and enjoying the moment is just as important as winning. It really is the journey, not the destination.”
“I always aim to be an ambassador of good vibes and creative growth, and being part of Juan for Fun challenge will allow me to do just that. I feel like I’ll be a very competitive coach, but at the end of the day, I just want everyone to have fun and experience what it’s like to travel to someplace new.”
Champ Lui Pio
“I really like how the Cebu Pacific Juan for Fun challenge mixes fun with adventure. I look forward to meeting and bonding with the challenge participants, and I really want them to enjoy this experience because traveling, in my opinion, is food for the soul.”
“I joined Juan for Fun as a mentor because I think it would be great to be a part of people’s adventures, share my personal experiences,a nd help them make the most of their journey. I want my team to challenge themselves by preparing to make some sacrifices and conquering a few fears, all while having fun of course!”
