“Cinemansanas Awards”, a certain award given to filmmakers who accepted the challenge of making a short film only using Apple devices which was presented just last May 12 in the Power Mac Center Spotlight- Circuit Makati.
Cinemansanas is a Pixelworx competition currently on its second installment that aims to show the talent and resourcefulness of Filipino artists.
Before the awardings went on, selected films were shown and I enjoyed watching the short films while at the same time wondering how the effects were done and such. The answers lie in iMovie, GarageBand and Final Cut Pro X. They’re programs with varying purposes.
iMovie for simple edits and putting videos together. GarageBand for anything musical and Final Cut Pro X for the heavy editing.
Anyway, the awards itself. There was a student category and professional category. The winners won gift certificates of Power Mac Center. And posed on the “silver carpet” with known icons in the filmmaking industry like filmmakers Mario Cornejo and Monster Jimenez, director Yam Laranas and author screenwriter Ricky Lee.
The short films shown and selected for the finals are all uploaded in the Power Mac Center YouTube channel.
There’ll be a Pixelworx People’s Choice Awards done via an online voting. The video with the most likes wins by May 19, 2016 wins. While the winner will be announced the next day.
