It was an afternoon until evening delight of coffee overload when we got invited to attend Megaworld Lifestyle Malls and Newport Mall at Resorts World Manila presentation of Coffee Creations held last Saturday, August 2. We’ve tasted samples of different varieties of coffee available and our best bet is the Alamid or better known as Civet coffee. It has a rich taste that’s equally appealing to our smell and palate. It’s considered as a specialty coffee and 1 small pack of this coffee costs around Php 100-150. According to filipiknow.net, Alamid coffee is “officially the world’s most expensive brew made from cat excrement.” Yes, it’s from a civet cat’s poop fresh from the jungles in parts of Asia. It’s not a surprise that civet or Alamid coffee is one of the most sought-after brew among coffee lovers.
That and more were presented during the Coffee Creations held in Newport Mall plus an exhibit can be found at the Ground Floor, Hallway area of Newport Mall where mouthwatering photos of Coffee Infusions and Coffee latte Art from Crisostomo, Bo’s Coffee, and UCC Café Terrace are displayed.
We’ve also got the chance to meet in person one of the youngest visual artist from Baguio, Vincent Navarro who shared his skills in ground coffee art showing Philippine hero Dr. Jose Rizal and his canvas was the Newport Mall grounds.
The event gave visitors a chance to watch Pour Over Demonstration by Bo’s Coffee and a Coffee Roasting Demo by #YKW Roasters. Visiotrs also learned more about the different Varieties of Philippine Coffee by Gourmet Farms and listened to an informative talk from Yardstick on “What Makes Specialty Coffee So Special?” along with an Alternative Brewing Demo. An Espresso Preparation Demo by Allegro Beverage was also held in the evening.
