It’s like throwback moments when Dean Cain came out of the stage for his first day appearance at TOYCON PH’s PopLife Fan Xperience yesterday, June 10 at the SMX Convention Center in Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
Dean is part of the international celebrity guests coming in to Manila to join the TOYCON PH annual celebration. He will delight ‘Lois & Clark’ and Superman fans at TOYCON PH from June 10 to June 12, 2016.
Dean was 27 years old when he started donning the Superman cape and at present, he is playing the adoptive father of Kara Danvers from the new Supergirl series.
Aside from Christopher Reeves, Dean is one of the actors who became popular playing the role of the Man of Steel in the 90s, and until this day.
Dean played Clark Kent and as Superman opposite Teri Hatcher, who played Lois Lane in Lois & Clark series. “We didn’t have anything going on. She was married after the first season. We’ve got great chemistry on screen but there was no affair. I hate to be, uhm, for those thought something was happening. Yah, I’m sorry,” Cain gladly admitted to the press who are curious of the real score between him and Teri off-screen. “I’ve had a girlfriend at that time. In my opinion, Teri Hatcher is still the best Lois Lane portrayal than anyone,” added Dean.
“When I first got the role, I was extremely excited just to have the job because I was 27-year old kid who’ll be able to pay his rent and I was very happy. My best friend at that time said, “Forever, for the rest of your life you’ll be known as Superman. What’s it gonna be like?” I said, I don’t know it feels like. Until I put on the tights. But I never felt the pressure. I was more concerned that once it’s out on air that people may not like me as the character. And, so it was nice that it was well-received and people would tell me that when they think of Superman they think of me. I’ll be forever happy to be attached to that character.”
When asked if he enjoyed Batman v Superman movie, his answer was, “The film itself didn’t hold my attention. It was very long. I think it was long. The truth of the matter is, I enjoyed ‘Deadpool’ a lot more than I like the movie (BvS). Ryan Reynolds killed that, he was great. It was witty and was fun and that was what the movie doesn’t have. I think Henry did a great job, Ben did a great job, but that wasn’t my favorite film. I’ll take ‘Deadpool’ and let it again.”
Catch Dean Cain and other guest celebrities until June 12 in PopLife Fan Xperience at TOYCON PH Convention. The PopLife fan Xperience is hosted by Hilary Issac.
