Chanel Villena, freelance photographer, won the over-all “Street Photography. More fun in the Philippines,” a Department of Tourism (DOT) special category under the first The Shutter Games photo contest staged by Digital Photographer Philippines (DPP) yesterday, July 6, at The Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros, Manila.
The whole day event inside Intramuros was participated by 260 two-member participating teams who registered for the street photography with 4 categories plus the category sponsored by the Department of Tourism. A cash prize of Php 75,000 was awarded to the winner and now have the chance to be immortalized into DOT‘s billboard ads and other promotional purposes campaign.
Nick Tuason, Editor-in-Chief, DPP, together with photographers Justin Wright and Niko Villegas, judged an over of thousand entries based on composition, originality, and relevance with the theme.
Photixx, FujiFilm, Nikon Philippines, Benro, Photozuela, and other brands sponsored the event.
The Shutter Games at Intramuros was ultimately successful and a part two is already in the works which will happen in February of next year, according to Nick (Tuazon). Also, a one-of-a-kind two-day event will also happen on November 9 & 10, 2013, that all Digital Photographer Philippines members should better watch out.
