We didn’t get to interview SM Prime Holdings Inc. CEO and President Hans Sy, but when we saw him posing with DreamWorks Animation characters Po and Shrek with that precious smile on his face, we knew that it was just priceless. And that’s one rare moving image captured by our lens. Hans is the son of tycoon Henry Sy, the founder of SM mall chains in the country. Just like his father, Hans is also a successful businessman in his own rights.
Hans was one of the honorable guests when Melco Crown Philippines revealed the ‘edutainment’ and interactive concept “DreamPlay by DreamWorks,” which will be the first of its kind in the world when it opens later this year at City of Dreams Manila, a leisure, gaming, and entertainment destination resort currently under development at Entertainment City, Manila, Philippines.
Melco Crown Philippines is a company listed on the Philippines Stock Exchange (PSE) with trading symbol MCP and a subsidiary of Melco Crown Entertainment Limited (Melco Crown Entertainment), a developer, owner, and operator of casino gaming and entertainment resort facilities in Asia. MCP announced the collaboration with global branded entertainment company DreamWorks Animation to develop the world’s first DreamWorks-inspired ‘edutainment’ center at City of Dreams Manila.
DreamPlay represents an exciting blend of integrated live and digital play spaces, featuring DreamWorks‘ popular characters (as shown in some of our photos) and creative storytelling combined with innovative educational play, appealing to children and adults alike.
The men responsible for this collaboration are Clarence Chung, Chairman, Melco Crown (Philippines) Resorts Corporation and Paul Kurzawa, Head of Global Retail Development and Entertainment, DreamWorks Animation.
Likewise, City of Dreams Manila is destined to deliver an unparalleled entertainment venue and hospitality experience to the Philippines and will ultimately play a key role in strengthening the depth and diversity of Manila’s leisure, business, and tourism offering, enhancing its growing position as one of Asia’s premier leisure destinations. It is being developed to specifically meet the needs of the large, rapidly growing, and increasingly diverse audience of leisure and entertainment seekers both in the Philippines and those visiting Manila from across the Asia region and around the world.
City of Dreams Manila is expected to open this 2014 and that will have six hotel towers, including Crown Towers hotel, Nobu Hotel, and a hotel managed by the Hyatt Group. There will be numerous specialty restaurants and bars, gaming facilities, a multi-level car park, and as well as three separate entertainment venues that will arise in this complex.
