Those of you who’ve seen The Flash Season 1 Tricksters episode should be in awe for finding some Easter eggs cracking up, up to the last sequence of the Episode 17. If you haven’t seen it yet, make this as a warning for some major spoilers if you continue reading this.
Easter egg #1
The slow-motion fight between The Flash and Reverse Flash was awesome! But what made the part more exciting was the revelation of who the Reverse Flash really is. It happen to be… nope, not Harrison Wells, as most of us would’ve thought so.
The Reverse Flash was/is indeed to be Eobard Thawne from the future who got injured during the fight between The Flash in the past where Barry Allen’s mom, Nora was killed. The injury Eobard sustained made him incompetent to go back to his current time and got stuck in the past.
By the way, Eobard was played by Matt Letscher.
Easter egg #2
Since we’re on the Reverse Flash back story, we should also give you the answer why in the present time, Eobard became Harrison Wells. Just to cut short from the chase, and for you to have more time to indulge on the Tricksters episode, Eobard followed the young Harrison Wells knowing he will be building the particle accelerator he needed to get back in his own time. Eobard switched bodies with Harrison after the young scientist figured in a car accident together with his future wife Tess. The accident was not an accident after all because it was Eobard who caused it. The ‘real’ Harrison and Tess died on that night while Eobard became Harrison Wells.
Easter egg #3
The Trickster returns to The Flash. Wait, what? The Trickster returned as part of paying homage to The Flash series back in 1990. Mark Hamill played the Trickster in the original series while John Wesley Shipp, who plays as Dr. Henry Allen (Barry’s dad, to make it simple), was the original The Flash actor of that time. it was like a sort of a reunion for John and Mark.
Easter egg #4
Mark Hamill, acted out voices for The Joker in different Batman animated series. The Trickster costume has a lot resemblance with The Joker and if you listen closely to Mark’s voice, you’ll find it weird watching Trickster while thinking it was The Joker.
Easter egg #5
To get leverage while he and his heir Axel Walker, the new Trickster and blackmailed a group of high society by demanding money in exchange for an antidote to the poison he slipped on their champagne drinks, James Jesse a.k.a. the Trickster, hostages Barry’s dad. Upon knowing that they were tricked, Barry, still in his Flash costume, reported to Det. Joe West and in return Joe told him, mentioning his name as Barry, that the Trickster got his dad. The conversation went through while Joe’s superior was nearby and listening. Did Joe just told The Flash that his dad was being hostage by the Trickster in front of Central City Police Captain David Singh?
Easter egg #6
The Trickster James Jesse revealed to Axel Walker and told him “I am your father”. Catchy? Wait til your remember that Mark Hamill played Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars movie. You’ll swear you’ve heard that same line before. And Axel family name’s Walker? Does it really have to rhyme with Luke Skywalker? Oh wells!
Easter egg #7
Barry Allen uses the Speed Force for the first time to take out the bomb that the Trickster attached on his wrist. And who told Barry how to use the Speed Force? But of course, his mentor, Harrison Wells. Or was it Eobard Thawne? Harribard? Eobarrison? Nah!
If this episode got you so strung high, wait for the upcoming Episode 18 The Future Revealed because this is going to be amazing!
