Almost forgot to write about Fast & Furious 6 until we read a movie review from an online news magazine today. The writer was referring this latest franchise as ‘not really an action movie‘ but rather as ‘fantasy to freedom‘ type of film, in his own words. But he, yes the writer goes by a name of a guy, acknowledged all the punching, jumping, car chase, shootings, explosions, et al. Which, we find, absurd.
All the comments from readers from his piece puts his integrity on the line, like making his opinion as if he’s not a fan of the franchise. But we guess he is (or was). He was just a little disappointed, maybe. We don’t know.
For all your peso worth and if you are following the FF franchise, Fast & Furious 6 is a high-octane installment, adventure of badass criminals living a new life led by Dom (Vin Diesel). This is, by the way, a fictional movie aim to give audience the feel of fast cars, family, and action-pack adventures of the team. No, we did not say crime must not pay. In fact, in the case of this movie, crime does pay, and expensively a lot.
Next thing we like about this latest franchise is that it paved the way for Tokyo Drift part (spoiler alert) which will now give the fans the idea of what happened to Han (Sung Kang) before the Tokyo chase and a teaser of what’s gonna happen right after his death. Sung Kang’s character is our most favorite from the series. Maybe because of the Asian thing.
Plus factor of this film was the recent visit of the major cast, including Michelle Rodriguez, Luke Evans and Gina Carano, that we’ve missed, at the SM Mall of Asia IMAX premiere. Vin even flaunted his signature sando-look in the hearts of Manila and shared in his social network his appreciation while riding padyak and Philippine jeepney.
For the writer who thought otherwise, here’s a salute for taking now the heat from the ire of Fast & Furious fans. Need we give a rating for this film? Nah! You know it’s worth it.
From the last installment film of director Justin Lin, and rated PG-13 by MTRCB, Fast & Furious 6 is still showing in Philippine cinemas, nationwide.
And just when everyone is trying to move on from Han’s death, here’s an interesting revelation from Justin, himself, during a final Twitter Q&A and hinted that Han might still be alive. Intriguing!
