The recently held PhotoWorld Asia 2017 at the Glorietta Mall in Makati showcased a lot of new innovation and technology from the photography field, video, and print products ranging from well-loved brands like Canon, Nikon and new brands like the DJI OSMO handheld camera and stabilizer. There are also booths that featured new camera solutions with the introduction of the SpyderCHECKR 24, Spyder5 Studio, and the Spyder 4TV HD from data color.

Fujifilm GFX 50S

One of which that caught our attention was the launch of Fujifilm’s GFX 50S, the latest in the mirrorless camera that dives in the medium format  for the highest ever image quality. The G Format (43.8 x 32.9mm medium format) sensor  utilizes a whopping 51.4 MP. It has a DSLR-like body but with the same touch and feel of a Fujifilm mirrorless camera.

“Compared to usual medium format, the GFX 50s is actually good for landscape and fine arts photography because it’s weather-resistant. If you shoot landscape with this, you’ll get the quality where you can print big; weather-resistant no fear of it getting splashed by water, a little bit of rain. Even in snow or low-cold temperatures, it’ll survove,” said Fujifilm Ambassador X-Photographer Niko Villegas as he showed around the uniqueness of the new GFX 50S in front of the PhotoWorld Asia 2017 audience.

“It’s very light. It’s still lighter than the typical DSLR without the battery. This is for professional studio work and also for travel,” he added.

The almost in the P500k range camera is another cutting edge in the market. If you want something commercial grade, this is the perfect gear for any genre of photography, according to Fujifilm’s press release. Fujifilm will also be releasing the “FUJINON GF63mm F2.8 R WR,” “FUJINON GF32-64mm F4 R LM WR,” and “FUJINON GF120mm F4 R LM OIS WR Macro” interchangeable lenses.
