Since 2011, Globe Business, the enterprise ICT arm of Globe Telecom, has been helping PUSOD Inc., an environmental NGO that employs the strategy of building centers that allow communities to take power over their environment in a conscious and caring manner (it has been assisting in Taal Lake Conservation since 2003), in raising awareness of the bio-marine environment in the surroundings of Taal Volcano, particularly Taal Volcano Protected Landscape and its inhabitants, according to PUSOD leader Anna Javier.
Globe started their partnership with PUSOD in Kinalaglagan, Mataas na Kahoy by creating solid waste management programs that helps clean and maintain a safe eco-friendly environment for the people living along Taal Lake by linking up with LGUs through Sagot Ka ni Kap, empowering the barangays to keep the surroundings clean and attractive for tourism, according to Bong Esguerra, Globe Corporate Social Responsibility Director.
Together with PUSOD, Globe also helps in facilitating boat building projects that will help alleviate and encourage the community within to start another income generating sources. Aside from fishing, the boat building projects are meant to assist future local tour guides to enhance their skills and knowledge in promoting Taal Volcano. On June 12, in time for the celebration of Independence Day, Globe and PUSOD teamed up again for the Family Independence Day Boat Building Weekend at PUSOD Taal Lake Conservation Center (TLCC) participated by 10 families and with two boats for building donated by Globe. The finished boats were unveiled on June 14.
Globe participated in firing up the spirit of national pride and environmental consciousness by putting to action its commitment to the sustainability and conservation of our country’s biodiversity. Also on June 12, Globe and Philippine Eagle Foundation set free Philippine eagle ‘Pamana‘ back to her natural habitat in Mt. Hamiguitan Range, Davao Oriental.
On the first day of Family Independence Day Boat Building Weekend, PUSOD TLCC turned over its 2014 earnings to Mataas na Kahoy Mayor Jay Ilagan, receiving the Local Government share in the amount of PhP 41,000. Pusod TLCC is a Public Private Partnership.
