Spotify celebrates 1st year anniversary with the biggest comeback of 2015

Spotify, the most popular music streaming application, celebrates its first birthday in the Philippines on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. In the event, they have spilled that Philippines emerged as its second fastest-growing market globally and its biggest market in Asia-Pasific.

The music streaming service has already reached 2.5 billion music streams from Pinoy music lovers in just a year from launch–highest streams accumulated from any Asian Market in just one year since launch.

Sunita Kaur, Spotify Asia’s Managing Director, expressed how they are ‘thrilled by the warm welcome’ from the Filipino music fans. She also mentioned, “We want to celebrate a year of amazing music. We are so looking forward to working with more of our fans’ favorite OPM artists and ensuring Spotify remains the center of their music experience.”

Aside from the revelation of Spotify’s place in the market, they also shared information, as well as the percentage of the users of the service. One out of five Filipinos with internet access have been using Spotify. 60% of the users have been accessing through their phones and 70% of all Spotify Subscribers are using Globe service, showing how powerful its partnership to the leading telecommunications company.

The revelation continued as they say bring to light some interesting facts on the OPM front. Up Dharma Down’s Tadhana ranks as the most streamed OPM song since launch, followed by Yeng Constantino’s Ikaw and Sa’Yo by Silent Sanctuary. The Eraserheads remain the most streamed OPM artists on the service, followed by MYMP and Yeng Constantino.

To finish Spotify’s wonderful celebration, Spotify Sessions featuring alternative rock band, Hale, was set, making it the biggest comeback of year 2015. They sang most of their break-out singles, such as “The Day You Said Goodbye,” “Kung Wala Ka,” and “Blue Sky”. Spotify Sessions is a series of intimate and exclusive performances by today’s most exciting artists, recorded and mixed to the highest professional standards, giving music lovers exclusive contents, as well as showcasing the talents of the local artists.
