GrabTaxi, Southeast Asia’s leading on-demand transportation app, added another city to its growing on-demand destinations with the official launch in the country’s Summer Capital, offering safe, reliable, and convenient taxi rides to more than 300,000 residents and almost one million tourists visiting every year.
Baguio is the 6th city in the Philippines that GrabTaxi operates in. The app first launched in Manila followed by Cebu, Davao City, Iloilo, Bacolod, and now Baguio.
GrabTaxi started in Malaysia and introduced in the Philippines in 2012, and presently available in 6 countries, namely, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, and the Philippines.
GrabTaxi Philippines started with only 20 employees and after a year, has expanded to 188 workforce all over the Philippines. The mobile app service is now available in 6 cities – Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Bacolod, Manila, and Baguio.
This comes to mind of the many when people came about to know GrabTaxi’s choice of the next city to introduce the mobile taxi booking app.
“We created a Launch Team and made a survey all over the Philippines and made a survey of which cities in the Philippines people would want to bring GrabTaxi,” said Khriztina Lim, GrabTaxi Country Marketing Head.
“Out of all the passengers that we’ve interviewed all over the Philippines, Baguio was the No. 1 vote,” she added.
“GrabTaxi is a mobile app and our goal is to solve real problems that the taxi industry in the country is facing. From passenger problems such as Safety and Inconvenience, to taxi drivers’ Insufficient Supply and Demand, Waste of Time, and Waste of Fuel. With the success of the app in other mega cities, we plan to bring the app to more places in the country. Now Baguio people can experience GrabTaxi rides that have always been rooted in our three key pillars of Safety, Certainty and Speed,” Lim explained during the official launch held in Baguio Craft Brewery, a popular bar in the city, along Marcos Highway, that offers 39 different flavors and variants of beers from all over the world.
To jumpstart the operations in the city of pines, GrabTaxi just opened an office in Baguio and is looking to hire over 50 employees. “Aside from improving the commuting experience of the passengers, this expansion, following the success of the app in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao and Iloilo, also means creation of more jobs all over the Philippines,” said GrabTaxi Head Poch Ceballos.
