Habitat for Humanity Philippines’ Managing Director and CEO Charlie Ayco calls out for people’s support to continue addressing help and rebuild in disaster hard-hit areas in the Visayas, especially in Bohol where a magnitude 7.2 earthquake rocked part of the province in October 2013, inviting everyone to join ‘TakBohol: Run for a School‘ fun run fundraising project to support the construction of a school building in one of the worst hit barangays in Bohol. In partnership with Tapok-Tapok Bol-Anon, Inc., an organization of Boholanos based in Manila, Habitat Philippines will gear up towards the race for a brighter future of the youth of Bohol. The fundraising marathon, estimated with 1,500 participants, is expected to be one of the biggest gatherings of the Boholano community in Manila this year.
Tapok-Tapok Bol-Anon, Inc. hopes to help school children still holding their classes in tents and makeshift learning facilities.
Registration fee for “TakBohol: Run for a School’ is Php 300 only which will happen at Veterans Memorial Medical Center, North Avenue, Quezon City on July 27, 2014. On-site registration will start at 4 AM on the same date and the race starts at 5 AM. The run categories are 3k and 4.5k. Participants will run at the oval grounds of Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
The announcement was made today, June 30, during the press conference attended by Mr. Ayco together with fellow Boholanos Lt. Gen. Carlos Holganza (ret), Gen. Leo Olegario, AFP (ret), Manuel Omictin, Mayor Manuel Molina, Aris Jim Sarmiento, and actor Cesar Montano. The press conference was hosted by TV personality and Habitat for Humanity Philippines Ambassador Tonipet Gaba of the popular and top-rating program, PopTalk seen on GMA News TV.
