Last May 28, the Hotel Sales & Marketing Association (HSMA) launched its first-ever Virtus Awards, the biggest and most prestigious sales and marketing competition in the travel and tourism industry in the Philippines.
The announcement of the opening for the search of nominees and launching of the official website happened at Diamond Hotel and witnessed by HSMA and Virtus Awards officers together with special guests General Managers and Directors of Sales and Marketing of members of world-class properties, hotels and resorts in the country.
The maiden competition launching also invited the presence of Tourism Promotions Board (TPBPHIL) COO Domingo Ramon ‘Chicoy’ Enerio III who shared the whole year 2015 highlights of the Department of Tourism here and abroad. The most anticipated event will be the Asean Tourism Forum 2016 to be held in 18 to 25 January 2016 here in Manila. Enerio encouraged everyone in the hotel and travel industry to participate in this monumental national event which targets 500 b2b sellers and buyers and 5,000 full house attendance to help promote tourism in the Philippines.
Enerio acknowledged Virtus Awards and the members of HSMA for initiating this competition which will happen in November 27, 2015 – a black-tie gala dinner where the first set of winners will be announced.
Submission of entries and information on the 2015 Virtus Awards is available at www.hsmaph.com. Deadline of entries is on September 15. Stalwarts of the travel and tourism industry, members of the academe and thought leaders in the fields of advertising, public relations, media and digital marketing comprise the panel of judges. Judging of short-listed entries is set on October 15.

In her speech during the program, Munsayac also acknowledged the presence of the media who, according to her, will do the invaluable task of promoting the vision and mission of HSMA 2015 Virtus Awards activities.

With the establishment of ASEAN Community by 2015, the prioritization of the country’s travek and industry opens a unique window of opportunity for local stakeholders to benefit from, as well as to cope with the challenges of regional integration,” said Rose Libongco, Overall Chair, Virtus Awards, during the program’s launch at Diamond Hotel.
“The Virtus Awards aims to position Filipino sales and marketing professionals well in a wider marketplace as more properties open in the region and particularly in the Philippines,” according to Libongco.
“The black-tie gala dinner on November 27, is a pinnacle celebration of this year’s first set of winners, expected to attract nearly 500 key influencers in the tourism and travel industry,” states Libongco.
