If you’re looking for good laughs and well-written script about the third gender and their misadventures in life, go and visit the cinemas next week starting April 13 and see the independently produced horror-comedy film “Echorsis: Sabunutan Between Good and Evil”, directed by by critically-acclaimed director Lemuel Lorca starring John ‘Sweet’ Lapus, Kean Cipriano, and Alex Medina who plays the lead role of a gay-swindling gigolo in the movie.
If you find the movie title funny enough, there’s more to it once you see it on the big screen.
From the gay lingo title ‘Echorsis’, the film depicts a battle between good and evil through the power of exorcism by Father Nick, portrayed by Kean. Kristoff (John) is a late-bloomer closet queen who, with the help of his childhood friends, finally embraced his real personality and eventually falls in love with Carlo (Alex).
There are a lot to be learned from this film, especially new lingos delivered through punchlines by lead characters of the movie. Albeit the horror story-line, the characters in this film were perfectly shown as real people in real life. All the actors also played their roles very well and no hint of becoming a trying hard horror-comedy movie were found in its entirety.
Initially given an X rating, film producer Chris Cahilig fought for this film’s sake and eventually granted an R-13 by the MTRCB and Gaded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board. A triumph well deserved for ‘Echorsis’.
We give a perfect 5 stars review score to ‘Echorsis’ for having a clean and well-written story-line, great directorship, realistic approach of characters, and wonderful performance of the actors involved in this film.
Check out “Echorsis: Sabunutan Between Good and Evil” in cinemas near you and enjoy an out-of-the-box horror-comedy you’ll love to share after coming out of the cinema.
