It was just a leap of faith when International Cabin Attendant Training School or ICATS was founded 7 years ago by CEO and co-founder Princess Joy Garcia alongside Arthuro de Leon and the late Armie Guiao in 2009. ICATS was established with a mission to meet the demands of the airline service industry by helping Filipino dreamers reach their highest potentials.
ICATS has no tie-ups with any airlines but the school’s portfolio speaks for itself why different airlines seek ICATS graduates and this is where the school stands out from other international cabin attendant training schools. “We just don’t train for the money, we train from the heart,” said Malou Galang, ICATS Consultant, during the press conference for the ICATS 7th Founding Anniversary Grand Gala Night celebration held in Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila.
With a curriculum based on standards set by international flight attendant schools, ICATS’ competitive courses include a five-module training with key subjects on Personality Development, Aircraft Familiarization, Emergency Situation and Procedures, On Board Services and Interview Essentials. Add to these the rigorous hands-on training by qualified and competent instructors – all equipped with years of experience flying with major and prominent international airlines.
Wil Dasovich, a YouTube Creator and travel blogger, joined as guest speaker during the press conference and talked about his expereince travel experience in front of the media and guests. “I’ve been traveling extensively in the Philippines, aside from the landscape, for me it’s meeting people and learning new things, and everywhere you go it’s a new adventure. I think, one of the best things about being a flight attendant is having this luxury to travel,” said Wil.
Back in 2010, ICATS launched its first batch with only 3 enrollees. But the ICATS team was not discouraged – the challenges they faced fired up their desire to succeed, with the next batches showing great potential for ICATS to soar higher.
The rapid increase of enrollees in 2014 required ICATS to transfer to a bigger venue with more classrooms.
“God was faithful to ICATS that in 2017, the school continued to expand its wings by moving to a more spacious venue to further accommodate the continuous rise of enrollees,” said Princess.
What started as a noble dream for Princess and her team has transformed into a school – now one of the most reputable and fully-accredited professional training schools in the country. Through a modern curriculum and 30-day intensive course, ICATS has assisted graduates in their transition from flight school students to professional airline personnel via a job assistance program.

To date, ICATS has provided the hospitality airline industry with more than 200 highly-trained graduates who now hold vital positions in prestigious local and international commercial airlines such as Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Oman Air, Fly Nas, Saudi Arabian Airlines Air Asia, among others.
As a growing family and as a team, ICATS is enjoined by common thrusts that propels it further to become better. Early this year, ICATS launched the “ICATS Cabin Trainer” — a mock room that is a replica of an aircraft’s Business and Economy class setting. This allows students to not only get an authentic feel of an aircraft’s in-flight atmosphere, but also the chance to better educate themselves in their practical training, from aircraft familiarization and emergency procedures to in-flight services.
The countdown leading to ICATS’ anniversary is meaningfully marked with special events that include community-giving and volunteer activities. Led by Princess, the ICATS family conducted a series of outreach visitations in seven charity institutions which includes Precious Heritage Children’s Home, Tahanang Balik Alay, Home for the Golden Gays, Creative Milestone Learning Center (School for Special Kids), Children’s Home of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Children’s Home of Eucharistic Love and Kindness, and Margaretha Home for the Blind.
This was followed by a Dedication and Worship Service held last April 5 at the ICATS campus in Tektite Building, Ortigas Center and a blood-letting donation conducted in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross (held on April 6).
To conclude the celebration is the ICATS 7th Founding Anniversary Grand Gala Night with the theme “Rejoicing Years of Passion, Advancing the Mission” which was held on April 7 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The ICATS founding family will reconnect with students, faculty, partners, and former graduates.
Among the anticipated activities was done that night will be the launch of the ICATS Alumni Association, Inc. (ICATSAAI) and oath-taking of officers who will be the school’s partners in various post-graduate services like the job placement assistance program. There will also be an awarding ceremony in honor of the outstanding contributions of ICATS’ exemplary employees.
“It is both a privilege and honor to witness this milestone. Indeed, it is truly a dream come true for me, a journey that led to many more fulfilled dreams. As we celebrate this milestone, we will continue to shine and commit ourselves to professional excellence and leadership, all while remaining grounded on our best teaching practices and positivity-building philosophies,” Princess said.
Setting the stage for the years to come, ICATS is more than ready to conquer the skies and the world anew for those who are passionate in chasing bigger dreams and life-changing opportunities.
“The next chapter of ICATS’ history will be the most challenging and most exciting chapter yet. The school will continue to serve others and become a vessel of hope, especially to the young ones who are brimming with dreams to see the world. We will continue the mission; not only in developing trainees into becoming full-fledged flight attendants, but also in teaching them the true meaning of L.I.F.E. and that is Leadership, Integrity, Faith, and Excellence. And without the F, everything is just a LIE”.
