The announcement of the Top 12 Finalists of The 2013 Elan Awards: The Search for the Modern Filipino Gentleman was stirred with controversial questions during the press conference and one was the eligibility of the three judges who were presented during the said event. The 12 finalists were chosen by a celebrity panel of judges that included society columnist Tim Yap; actor and top male model Victor Basa; and radio and TV personality Sam YG based on three criteria: a. Elegance of Style; b. Manners and Etiquette; and c. Accomplishment.
“One of the criteria is refinement and we wanted to have individuals who knows and are familiar with the nominees,” explained Chris Cahilig, event host and publicist for The 2013 Elan Awards: The Search for the Modern Filipino Gentleman, when entertainment editor Isah Red questioned how judges were selected.
Victor, star of the new hit GMA-7 teleserye “My Husband’s Lover”, explained why the voices or decisions of the judges also matter while public voting remains and have important roles too. “We can trust the public naman on making their right choices, and there also judges who will be able to help on the outcome of the contest“.
Sam puts it as a ‘man’s man‘ perspective, not just on ‘makalaglag panty effect‘ as he humbly defend why all-male judges should also be given opportunity to be jurors even in the absence of female jurors for The 2013 Elan Awards: The Search for the Modern Filipino Gentleman.
Now that the 12 finalists are announced, Facebook users may now go to the McJIM Classic Leather Official Facebook Fan Page and then vote for their chosen finalist based on the three criteria. Voting is open from June 17 to August 2, 2013. The finalist with the most number of votes will be proclaimed Grand Winner of the 2013 Elan Awards.
The Grand Winner of the 2013 Elan Awards will receive a prestigious designer trophy; Php 100,000 in cash for himself; another Php 100,000 to be given to a charity of his choice; and one-year supply of McJIM products. On the other hand, the nine finalists will receive plaques of appreciation and a six-month supply of McJIM products.
