From now on, riding cabs or taxi will never be a hassle. Thanks to GrabTaxi, a fast, safe, and reliable concept is now available in the Philippines after its successful launching.
It’s Time To Grab! Say goodbye to worry-some ride experience and say hello to GrabTaxi!
GrabTaxi is the MyTeksi in Malaysia, the first in ASEAN to use smartphone to smartphone cloud-based technologies for taxi booking and dispatch which was founded and started by businessman Anthony Tan in Malaysia with co-founder Tan Hooi Ling. Anthony‘s vision does not stop in Malaysia as he plans to revolutionize the taxi industry in other countries as well. Together with two of his Filipino partners, they decided to put up the regional expansion to introduce the concept in the Philippines and giving it a much stronger brand name, GrabTaxi.
If we’ve only knew of MyTeksi in Malaysia, we should have tried it when we went there and took a red teksi last May in Kuala Lumpur.
GrabTaxi is a platform supported by mobile application (available in Android and iOS devices) to be installed on mobile units. Once downloaded, passengers can now choose to pick and grab a taxi within his or her area. Once the passenger tagged a match on his or her devices, the taxi driver will pick him or her at a determined pick-up location, as seen on the mobile gadget. A Php 70 booking fee is placed on top of the estimated fare and as soon as the passenger board the taxi, the meter is then turned on. The Php 70 booking fee is then shared by the driver and his operator or taxi fleet.
This application aims to revolutionize the taxi industry in the country. We all know a lot of stories about rude and bogus taxi drivers and this concept will help lessen those incidents. Drivers are trained and educated on how to use the application. Partner fleets make sure that their taxis and drivers give the best and trusted service for the passengers. Likewise, this concept help builds the drivers morale and help them generate extra income from each successful booking transactions. No more arrogant and worst, fear from being mugged or raped, especially for the women passengers.
Another thing why this application is so cool, GrabTaxi also has what they called Share Your Ride, an interesting feature which passengers can share their rides via Twitter, Facebook, text message, or email. It helps the passenger to be tracked by friends if he or she is doubtful of the ride. No more texting or taking pictures of the cab’s plate number, which people normally do when riding a cab.
Brian Cu, Natasha Bautista, and Franco Varona also shared with us some insights and possibilities of the future of GrabTaxi in the country. For now, GrabTaxi is servicing Metro Manila and nearby Quezon City area only as part of their beta-testing. Not yet available but soon will be on Windows and BlackBerry devices.
There are many positive things that we see in this concept and we believe that it will help boost the taxi business in the country. Passengers are looking not just for reliable and comfortable ride, but also a taxi service that can be trusted too. Truly, this is going to be a win-win situation for both the drivers and passengers.
