From a simple walk in the beach, lounging in hotel lobbies, taking food shots, recording videos from product launching, and more, Kata M1 keeps up with us during our “Captured by Kata M1” initial impressions and test-drive experience since we got hold of this unit prior to its official launch held last May 10. Kata M1 is a competitive mobile unit, a phablet, that can equal your internationally known brand when it comes to photo capturing and video recordings.
A lot of curious minds greeted us whenever we flaunt our Kata M1 and the common comments were “That’s a nice-looking device! What’s the name of your gadget?” or “Wow! The photos you took looks great!” Not that we wanted to brag but Kata M1 looks really great and you wouldn’t guess it’s from a brand named Kata unless I show you the brand name. And yes, the photos we took from Kata M1’s 13MP rear camera is just unbelievable! Ask the people around us who saw us using Kata M1 and they’ll tell you they were captured by Kata M1’s great looking and amazing phablet camera features.
We enjoyed bringing Kata M1 everywhere we go like in a simple product launch or out-of-town trips. We travel frequently and went to Bohol last month and were really impressed with the results of our snapshots during our 3-day trip to that province.
Kata M1 was introduced during Kata Digital’s Singing Idol event last April 2014. Kata Digital is also the maker of the popular Kata i3 (RELATED: Full Specs and Price) and have slowly introduced quite a few phones and tablets since 2013. Kata M1 was initially priced at Php 11,999. Kata M1 is a phablet that has a 5.7” True HD display with 1.5GHzquad core processor with a whopping 2GB RAM. Store a plethora of applications & media files with its 16GB internal storage (expandable up to 32GB). Take as many shots as you want with its 13MP rear and 5MP front camera with advanced features.
It’s like Kata i3 but definitely with a big screen that makes Kata M1 our choice for taking photos.
We also tried taking photos while inside a moving van and were impressed that the image still comes out good. Be in the mind though that Kata M1 has a slow shutter so the one you’re aiming might not be the one snapped by the device especially when you’re running on a 80-100kph vehicle.
Photos that will come out from your Kata M1 may not be like Getty Image quality but you will definitely give some dslr or other smartphone a run for their money when it comes to camera features.
On an ambient or natural light, and as long it is well lighted, photos taken by Kata M1 will be satisfactory. The only thing that Kata M1 is not good at is when you’re taking photos in a dark place. Kata M1 is lagging at low-light conditions making photos grainy or having too much noise.
Though Kata M1 can come handy for photographers, it is not made for selfies. But if you do have a wide grip, then maybe, yes you can do a selfie. For us, because of it’s dimension, we find it difficult to actually come up with a successful selfie.
