Kata M2L Unboxing
Under the hood, the early M2 and M2L share some similarities such as boasting a 1.3GHz Quad Core processor; RAM capacity at 1GB and 16GB internal storage; and Dual Function SIM slot for most of its function and performance.
What it sets apart are the other specs that makes the M2L to standout on its own. Kata M2L sports a 5.5-inch Super HD Display; a 3000mAh battery; 13MP rear and 8MP front cameras; and is now running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS. I think this is the first Kata device that’s initially released having the Lollipop version on its sleeves.
Kata M2L is much lighter than its big brother. Volume Rocker is set at the left side of the phone while the Power Button stays at the right side. The Capacitive Buttons remains at the bottom bezel panel portion.
Kata M2L incorporated what Kata Box and Kata T4 are featuring like it has more apps for media entertainment functions such as Mega VPN, Netflix, Fox Now, History, Discovery Channel, and a few on its dedicated launcher.

Though I haven’t fully tested Kata M2L for a longer period of time, I am really excited of the M2L! It began when I first opened the box and finally held the unit in my hand. Kata brand is known as the ‘underdog’ in the tech and mobile industry where giants dominate most chunks of sales in the local market. Also known to compete in the market by giving affordable unit prices, Kata doesn’t comes cheap when it comes to design and feature specs.
If you’re looking at the speed, you’ll be surprised that the M2L stayed at 1.3GHz Quad Core processor while the model Kata M3, before it, has a 1.7GHz Octa Core processor. It could have been a solid powerhouse if the M2L was also packed with an Octa Core processor.
Kata M2L doesn’t have NFC (Near Field Communication) capability but it’s introducing the HotKnot. Like NFC, HotKnot allows data exchange when the screen touches another device. Ain’t it cool?
And the mystery why M2L is called as such? It’s because the latest Kata M series is now LTE capable for faster and wider Internet connection.
Kata M2L doesn’t have fancy design like it’s predecessor but the design seems almost to be flawless and frankly speaking, this should rank up as one of the best Kata smartphone device in 2015 edition. It has a very simple and plain bezel complementing the matte finished hard plastic back panel. Basically, it looks like what an Android phone should be.
Unlike previous models, it stays away from the usual arched back panel. I dig this flat back cover more. The only thing that made me upset of the design is the location of the USB port for charging. The charging port is located at the top portion of the unit. Why? It would look good and more functioning if the USB port was designated at the bottom part of the unit, right? Anyways, that’s just my two cents.
For the speaker and mic part, they’re both in good location.
Price and Availability
Kata M2L is available for only PhP 7,599 and it’s a good catch for it’s price value. If you’re one of the first people who made their pre-order, you should have gotten your free Screen Protector and Flip Cover Case, that came along with the Kata M2L unit.
Visit Kata Stores and Kiosks to purchase your Kata M2L.
I’m still giving the Kata M2L a perfect 5/5 on my score sheet. The USB port location wasn’t that really bad. Overall, design is smooth and darn beautiful, especially this white colored M2L that I am holding right now. If you’re planning on getting the M2L, pick the white one. You’ll fall in love with this color.
