Just right across Il Terrazo, and unsuspecting visitors of a medical clinic (located at the ground level of the side building), located is Big D’s Smokehouse – a relatively ‘old’ rib-house to those on the know and new to those who just discovered them.
Our favorite(s)? There are many but one stands out from the rest. And since it’s summer already, why not binge on some ribs that is cooked twice fried! Oh yeah! Just like ‘crispy pata‘ and Big D‘s take on ‘crispy tadyang‘, less the fat.
Twice Fried Ribs is made of soft bone ribs – twice fried, garnished with fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro and topped with garlic served with spiced red vinegar sauce. Ooh! Are you salivating now?
We know you are. Imagine biting on a soft and juicy meat, twice fried, with crispy thin outer layers and your teeth sank into those flavorful and aromatic tenderness. Ooh! That’s heaven!

Big D’s Smokehouse serves Southern-American inspired dishes such as Southern Chicken Salad, Vinaigrette Salad, Hush Puppies, Nachos, Ribs, and Chicken Fried Steaks. Big D’s started from a get together of a group of friends who decided to share with others their ribs specialty which they usually cook as a staple beer-match in their gatherings. Partnering this business are Marlayn Lubiano, Pier Raquidan, Edwin Miranda, and Dino Paulo Peralta – who is also know as Chef Paulo. Who’s Big D? Ask the chef , himself who learned the art of cooking through his mom and their other restaurant business.
The restaurant used to be along Katipunan and they lasted there for a year, and they are now located in 2/f POS Building, Tomas Morato cor. Madrinian St., Quezon City.
