So it fell short from their expectations. That, would most Smallville fans would react on Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan‘s Man of Steel. Others who grew up with the man in red cape would say that Christopher Reeves‘ more handsome than Henry Cavill. For us, Man of Steel is the link from the untold stories between the earlier Superman movies which failed to bring on the silver screen. Well, not all in the newest superhero film were in exact like the part where Lois Lane knew Clark Kent‘s secret identity way before the guy from Kansas applied as a reporter for Daily Planet.
But this minor flaw won’t affect the 2013 Superman story, based in our most honest opinion. It’s like watching all the past installment charged into one compound film.
Story-line and editing were great. Action scenes reminds us of the Doomsday vs. Superman battle in Metropolis. Only now, our childhood hero is fighting against Krypton‘s megalomaniac warrior, General Zod.
Because it’s a Nolan film, expect Man of Steel to be more darker than it’s used to be. The story is based on Clark‘s human side which makes the movie to be more dramatic which is good and brought the film into a more ‘real-life’ story rather as a superhero movie.
Coinciding with this year’s Father’s Day celebration, Man of Steel successfully injected an emotional bonding of father and son scenario. That is, Clark to Jonathan Kent, and Kal-El to Jor-El.
Henry Cavill deserves to be the next Superman, and Amy Adams? Well, she’s pretty, and we don’t mind if she appears again on another sequel. As Zod, Michael Shannon was great. Didn’t see that coming, but Laurence Fishburne as Editor-in-Chief Perry White was a surprise! Of course, having Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, and Kevin Costner was the perfect choices for playing the roles of Jor-El, Martha and Jonathan Kent.
Almost all the characters from the comic book were there like Lana Lang and Pete Ross, but we are just wondering how come we didn’t see Jimmy Olsen, Daily Planet’s photographer?
On production and if your eyes were fast enough, branding were generously placed in some scenes of the movie. From Nikon D3S to IHOP, it clearly shows who are being eyed as the audience of Man of Steel.
Lastly, to share our own piece, Man of Steel did not fall short of our expectations. Grab a seat and enjoy the movie!
