As seen in their recent Press Conference in Los Angeles, both opponents seem to be very relax and calm but the stakes are high as they will square-off for the biggest pay-per-view event in the history of boxing.
With only under 6 weeks before the big fight, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. both head up in serious training and preparation for the $300 million mega-fight in Saturday, May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Though Pacquiao leads with 57-5-2, 38 knockouts, Mayweather had never lost in any of his fights leaving him with 47 wins and 26 KO’s. Both boxers have shown great control and skills from their past fights.
Mayweather suggested the fight last December from his frustration of not being able to make it to a fight with Pacquiao, because of his loss from Marquez and Bradley in 2012, saying that the 38-year old Filipino boxer is ‘not on his level.’
But later on January, reports have confirmed that both fighters have signed the agreement to make the “Fight of The Century” finally happen.
According to the agreement, Mayweather receives the lion’s share of a 60-40 money split, his name will be first in the fight bill (Mayweather – Pacquiao), and he will be called and walk to the ring second. He will become the lead in all promotions and will have the final say in the planning of the event: from the press conference to the in-arena broadcast.
This agreement left many boxing fans and analysts question Mayweather’s over-superiority to Pacquiao, even stating that Mayweather gives all the benefits upon his choice, but both boxers stay silent over the issue, or did they?
On the social media, both are dubbed to be the best and worst fighters to face-off. Best because they will surely give a one-of-a-kind fight to the viewers; but worst because these two are popularly known to ‘have bad blood against each other.’ Either way, the “Mayweather vs. Pacquiao” will surely entertain everyone in the world.
The question here is, will they make it to 12 rounds or one of them will win by knockout, again?
Mayweather has a longer reach with 72” than Pacquiao’s 67”, but Pacquiao has a bigger fist by 10” than Mayweather’s 8-inch fist.
Sure, these are just numbers but they will create a big impact once these two enormous fighters step on the ring.
And the winner will be given titles and receive two belts, one created especially for this event by the WBC as proposed, of course, by Mayweather.
The American boxer sure had decided every benefit for himself in this fight but that doesn’t assure his another win against Pacquiao. Both have all the guts to fight for the titles but also both of them have their very own tiny weaknesses.
Mayweather is older but Pacquiao is shorter by height and reach. But this doesn’t mean it’s one’s advantage over the other. Let’s just all keep calm and wait until both of them finally square-off the ring for the championship.
The question now is who will bring home the title; the 36-year old eight-division world champion, Pacquiao from the Philippines or the 38 year-old undefeated five-division world champion, Mayweather?
