Falling off stage is now an ordinary thing when it comes to beauty pageants. Remember when Miss Philippines 1999 Miriam Quiambao fell on stage and managed to strike a pose during the Miss Universe 1999 preliminaries? Her courageous behavior landed her as the first runner-up.
Should lady-luck stays on her side, same thing could happen to Crystal Star Aberasturi, who hails from Liloan, Cebu, who was exiting the stage during the Miss Philippines Earth 2014 first media presentation held at the SM Megamall, when she tripped, and fell. Her colleague, Kim Covert who is from Dumaguete and took the stage with Aberasturi, was quick to assist her fellow candidate who quickly stood up, gracefully pose and walked away with all smiles. That was a very nice gesture. We hope that these two lovely ladies make it to the finals.
Miss Philippines Earth is a yearly competition since 2001 which selects the country’s representative to Miss Earth. The international pageant, which was formed in the Philippines, champions environmental advocates. SM Supermarket, SM Hypermarket, and Savemore Market will serve as platforms for this year’s competition in spreading environmental awareness among shoppers as they host several pre-pageant events. The partnership between Miss Philippines Earth and SM Food Retail Group gives a healthy boost to the mall’s pioneer campaign for reusable bags – Join the M.O.B. (MyOwnBag). The delegates will serve as ambassadresses of the SM Greenbag, the first reusable bag in the country. Hand in hand, the partnership continues to bring everyone closer to a cleaner and greener tomorrow.
Angelee delos Reyes, who finished in the top 8 finalists of Miss Earth 2013, will crown her successor when the national pageant holds its finals night on May 11 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
