“(And) to my successor, just remember to give your best. Behind that beautiful gown, your knees maybe trembling, like me right now. I’m still not use to it. Being in front of millions of people is nerve-wrecking. But, you have to remember that you are proudly wearing that sash that says ‘Philippines’,” says Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach as she delivered her final Speech as Binibining Pilipinas Universe Philippines as she staged a final walk last April 17, 2016 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Miss Universe Pia Wurztbach handed the crown to her successor, Maxine Medina, who was declared Binibining Pilipinas 2016 Miss Universe Philippines at the evening’s Grand Coronation Night.
The 25-year old graduate of Philippine School of Interior Design and De La Salle-College of St Benilde will be the country’s representative to the Miss Universe 2016. She bagged the crown together with Jehza Huelar (2nd runner-up), Angelica Alita (1st runner-up), Nichole Manalo (Miss Globe), Nicole Cordoves (Miss Grand International), Joanna Eden (Miss Supranational), Jennifer Hammond (Miss Intercontinental), and Kylie Verzosa (Miss International).
The Binibining Pilipinas 2016 Grand Coronation Night was simultaneously telecast live over ABS-CBN to avoid pre-empting the announcement of winners. The program ended at around 2 AM.
