The first Oktoberfest in world history took place on October 12, 1810 when Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig, later King Ludwig I of Bavaria, married Princess Therese von Saschen-Hildburghausen (from Sachsen), also a German Princess. Bavaria became a kingdom in 1806, when Napoleon abolished the Holy Roman Empire.
Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila has been holding the Oktoberfest tradition for 7 years while the German Club Manila has been celebrating Oktoberfest for 78 years since 1906.
There were over 7,500 traditional one-liter mug of beer consumed in a span of 2 days and 3,350 number of people that came during Oktoberfest 2015.
Expect a lot of German sausages to be consumed on the festivity like Ring Bratwurst, Cheese Sausage, Cervelat Sausages, MunchnerWeisswurst, Munchner Bratwurst, and Hungarian Sausages.
“Wurst” means sausage and “brat” derives from “brato”, the Old High German word for hacked meat.
