We recently installed a new photo sharing app called OpenSnap on our mobile devices and as early as this on, we could say that this could level with your favorite Instagram and Foursquare. Why is that so? Because OpenSnap is even more fun than the two previous mentioned.
Don’t get us wrong. We are a fan of Instagram and Foursquare yet this new app from OpenRice Group, Inc. has something that these two apps can give. We mean, it’s a one application that works as photo sharing, like Instagram, and at the same time will point to your exact location, yeah like Foursquare.
OpenSnap is available on iOS and Android devices. Sorry, but it’s not yet available on Windows. It’s a 11.28MB application data that can be installed in a few seconds or depends on your fast internet connection.
When you’re done installing, you’ll get a prompt that will take you to the home screen of OpenSnap. You will then be asked to choose your country or city location and the language you’ll prefer to use. Yup, countries, cities and languages are on the list because OpenSnap is currently available in most Asian countries mainly China, Philippines, Indonesia, India, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Malaysia. It browse over 1 Million restaurants in Asia.
When you’re done selecting your country and language, the next phase is to log in via Facebook or OpenRice account. Or simply register by email. We chose to log in on Facebook. By that time, you’ll be seeing the your profile page and see a lot of photos already shared through OpenSnap.
There is a button at the bottom, a camera icon that you’ll use when you’re ready to take snapshots of the food or places you might find interesting to share.
Let’s say you have found a subject to take a picture, just snap the icon and OpenSnap eventually captures the image. It will then ask you to crop the image to a much better size. The next page will ask you to choose a filter and add sticker on your image, which makes it more fun. There are emoticons available and you just simply tap an icon and it adds on the image. OpenRice Philippines’ Heidie Tan, Brand Marketing Officer says that the Auto Tone filter is the most used by OpenSnap users. There are about 10,000++ people who already installed OpenSnap on their devices, as of April 28, 2014.
Once you selected the filter and sticker, you will then fill up the exciting details of your image. This part is where Instagram and Foursquare cross-meet.
This is cool because it gives you a sense to get into-the-know of what the food or place that you’ve captured is all about. You’ll have to type in the name of the dish (or location) on your image; type the location where it was taken; give it a caption; add tags; add the people who were with you at that time; and it lets you share it on your Facebook and Twitter accounts.
It looks like complicated when you read this but on the actual process, it’s just a snap! . Now the next step for you is to publish it.
Now your image is live and ready for sharing!
