Philippine Bloggers Network (PBNet), an organization that aims to professionalize the blogging industry in the country, showed its support to Globe Business’ advocacy #SailFreeinTaal in time for the celebration of Independence Day 2015 in Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas for a boat building weekend project aimed to support the community livelihood and help raise awareness of the bio-marine environment in the surroundings of Taal Volcano, particularly Taal Volcano Protected Landscape and its inhabitants.
PBNet founders Azrael Coladilla (AzraelsMerryland) and yours truly, together with PBNet VP-Internal Ron Villagonzalo (WAHPinas) and member Ted Claudio (WazzupPH) were joined by Mike Policarpio, External Affairs Manager, Globe Telecom and RJ Dimaculangan, Team Member, Globe Corporate Communications, Globe Telecom.
The Family Independence Day Boat Building Weekend started on June 12 and finished on June 14, where 10 sail boats were set up for free sailing in the protected waters of Taal Lake.
Duane Bacon and Kim Nieves, bloggers from www.duanebacon.com and www.kimnieves.com, respectively, also joined the boat building activity in support to PUSOD Inc. preservation of Taal Volcano Protected Landscape and its community.
The bloggers and Globe Corp Team were provided accommodations at ESL Resort in Mataas na Kahoy for their overnight stay over the weekend.
As part of PUSOD‘s campaign to promote responsible tourism in Taal Volcano, PBNet members; Duane and Kim; and Globe Corp Team were guided to a Knowledge Tour, an almost 4-hour visit to Calauit, Balete, also known as Taal Volcano Island, assisted by TLCC Community Volunteer, Maan.
The Knowledge Tour is a full briefing on the lake region and eruption history of the volcano, a boat ride from Kinalaglagan, Mataas na Kahoy to Calauit, Balete on Volcano Island and back, a horse ride or trek with a local guide, insurance, snacks and lunch of Batangas fusion cuisine and local refreshments, user fees and a conservation contribution.
