Named after the Philippines’ country code, Plus63 music fest debuted first wave at Cebu International Convention Center Grounds in Mandaue City last January 16 as Cebu province celebrates Sinulog 2016.
Crowds flocked CICC grounds from 3PM to 4AM and all dance and rock to the beat and music of Plus63 performers which included local band Powespoonz, DJs The Zombettes and Mark Marasigan, and headlined by Steve Angello.
I arrived at the venue past 12 midnight and bought a ticket for PHP 1,200 sold on the day itself. The ticket price was higher compared from the tickets sold for early birds.
If you’re going to ask me if the ticket was worth the cost of participating Plus63, my answer is ‘yes’.
Although counting by the numbers, turnout for Plus63 was bit low compared to LifeDance, which is more popular to Cebuanos because it has been there for a number of years already. Plus63 is just starting and on its infancy stage.
There is a big future for Plus63 and if they continue the next wave, I believe that more people will patronise this music fest.
As for Steve Angello headlining Plus63, that really brought the house down. Steve’s mixing performance was spectacular and the organisers really prepared for it.
In my own term, Plus63 1st Wave was a success and credit should also be given to the other performers for adding more excitment to Sinulog weekend celebration.
Inspired by Coachella, Plus63 head Peter Delantar aims to bring this kind of eventa in the country with similar experience but with a local twist.
