A comical theater show by Repertory Philippines premiered last night at Greenbelt 1 Onstage Theater in Makati — “Run for Your Wife” directed by Miguel Faustmann, starring theater veteran Jamie Wilson alongside Jeremy Domingo, Goldie Soon, and Mikkie Bradshaw.

Oozing with laughter, the theater was filled with media people and guest theater actors and celebrities, who all have witnessed this sexy comedy written by Ray Cooney, originally launch at London‘s West End in 1983.

This is not the first time for Repertory Philippines to stage this comical play since they have produced it already in 1986 and 2001.

The play opens up with the two Mrs. Smith’s (played by Soon and Bradshaw) both contacting the police station reporting their husband missing.

The story goes on as it reveal that these two are married with the same John Smith (played by Wilson).

Wilson’s character is described by the director, Faustmann, as a ‘bigamist trying to keep two wives a secret from each other.’

Domingo’s character, Stanley Gardner, John Smith’s best friend adds up to the comical relief as they both come up into multiple ‘impromptu explanations to cover up Mr. Smith’s secret.’

Creating little white lies for every cover, both Smith and Gardner end up in an unending question and answer situation with two detectives played by James Stacey and Paul Holme.

The play ended with a humorous scene where Wilson’s character decides whether to admit the truth or not, still making the audience laugh, same as how it made them laugh in the beginning.

Exhausting but fun,” said Wilson when asked to describe his overall experience during the stage play.

On the other hand, when asked how they successfully conducted such theater act, he mentioned, “I love the people I’m working with. It makes more much easier and a lot more fun, as well, because we’re having as much fun backstage as we are on stage.

Wilson is dubbed by the Repertory Philippines as one of the country’s ‘reliable theater actors,’ he is also known for his performances in “The Addams Family” as Uncle Fester; as the Wolf and Cinderella’s Prince in “Into the Woods”; and in many more stage plays.

Moreover, “Run for Your Wife” will be playing in Greenbelt 1 Onstage Theater in Makati City starting April 10 to May 3, 2015. For details, you can reach Repertory Philippines at 843-3570 or Ticketworld at 891-9999(With reports from Josette Lansang)
