Asian Food Channel and Food Network are looking for their next new Food Hero. This Asia-wide talent search to find the best of the best home cooks and presenter aspirants is set to return in May 2015, looking forward on crowning two outstanding contestants that will be given the opportunity to star on either Asian Food Channel or Food Network.
Registration is still open for those who are interested. You can visit www.foodhero.asia and start signing up for the Food Hero mailing list. Registrants will later on receive updates and information about the said competition. On May 11, 2015, the competition will be open publicly.
Through the new Food Hero application, which will be available on Apple’s App Store and Google Play from May 11 to June 28, 2015, aspiring talents can upload video entries of themselves as they prepare and present culinary dish, as well as introducing their fave dishes. Apart from this, this application will also feature tips and techniques on shooting a submission video and also video clips from the former Food Hero winners, Sarah Benjamin and Michele Lean.
After submitting video entries, five promising entries will be shortlisted by the Asian Food Channel and Food Network team based on their personality, on-screen appeal and their ability to create engaging and creative content. The shortlisted entries will subsequently participate in a series of online culinary and travel-themed challenges.
Four finalists will then be selected and flown to Singapore where they will compete against each other in challenges that will showcase their hosting and cooking ability. Their performance in these challenges will finally determine who will be Asia’s new Food Heroes. The two winners will be announced in September 2015.
In 2014, Sarah Benjamin from Singapore and Michele Lean from Malaysia beat over 270 applicants to win the Food Hero title. Sarah starred in Must Try! Asia on Asian Food Channel while Michele went on to host Food Wars Asia on Food Network.
