Planning to further enhance the mobile entertainment experience among Filipinos, wireless services leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), developed “sachet bundles”, making video streaming more affordable and accessible to Smart subscribers, announced last May 8, at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City
“Smart is thrilled to make online video content more affordable and accessible to Filipinos, who are avid viewers of YouTube’s trending music videos, viral clips, and online sensations,” according to Michele Curran, Smart’s First Vice President and Head for Data Services.
Smart’s latest service innovation, the ‘new video data bundles’, offers more affordable deal to enjoy YouTube videos, Dailymotion, Vimeo, Skype Qik, and even the recent viral app, Dubsmash, anywhere and everywhere using mobile internet.
Smart recently signed partnership with YouTube and Dailymotion and has invited Google Philippines Head Kenneth Lingad and Guillaume Clement of Dailymotion in the event. Clement said that Smart is a very popular brand with huge subscribers, have 20 million of mobile internet users and a very powerful network, honoring their partnership with Smart.
“It is increasingly important for us in Youtube how do we keep up with Filipinos who are becoming increase in mobile, and I think this partnership… able YouTube to get more access with more Filipinos by having this more affordable, more accessible innovative bundles,” Lingad expressed.
Starting as low as PhP 5, Smart subscribers can already have an access to standard definition video streaming on mobile phones, up to 199, with expiration and service offers depending on the ‘sachet’ bundles they will choose (Youtube5, Youtube25, Youtube50, and Youtube199).
With any of the chosen bundles, subscribers can also enjoy streaming the earlier mentioned video apps aside from YouTube.
“This move reinforces Smart’s push to deliver fast, fun and worry-free mobile Internet to serve all the needs of Filipinos-whether to connect with loved ones, access news and information, or enjoy the vast wealth of enriching and entertaining online content,” added Curan.
During the event held at Raven Club Boutique, W Fifth Avenue Building, Smart invited some local television and radio personalities and three of them namely; ABS-CBN actress Maxene Magalona, Former DLSU Women’s Volleyball Player Michelle Gumabao, and Monster Radio RX 93.1 DJ Gino Quillamor participated in the 15 Minutes of Fame.
Hosted by Magic 89.9 Boys Night Out DJ Anthony Bueno a.k.a Tony Toni, 15 Minutes of Fame is another highlight of the launch which challenged the three personalities in a Lip Sync Battle.
DJ Gino’s all out lip sync performance of songs from The Script and Celine Dion stood out among the three, gaining the most resounding applause from the audiences.
