SM rebranded the iconic Cherry Foodarama and under new management, Cherry Shaw reopened today, October 13, where the classic grocery once stood and served as main store for residents within the area along Shaw Blvd. in Mandaluyong City. The first opening of 3 Cherry’s took place 3 months after SM Investments Corporation acquired the 1950s icon brand from the Ong family.
Cherry Congressional will open on October 15 while Cherry Antipolo will follow next.
All Cherry supermarkets closed down on June 25 following the acquisition by SMIC.
One-stop Cherry shops
As it has always been, Cherry Shaw and Congressional offer, not only food and grocery items but also, a few clothes, toys, and home improvements. Now following the footsteps of SM Markets, Cherry Shaw and Congressional have wider offerings of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry, seafood, and more. The stores also have appliances, furniture, home/kitchen ware, and more satisfying the needs of every shopper. The stores will also have bills payment counters for added convenience.
Sweet as Cherry
While the supermarket looks a lot like SM markets now, SMIC decided to retain the iconic ‘Cherry’ brand to continue the legacy of Cherry Foodarama. The old stores get much needed makeovers to keep up with the times and continue delivering satisfaction to their loyal customers. And though appearance has changed and they are now part of the SM Markets family, every visit to Cherry Shaw and Cherry Congressional is guaranteed to be sweet as cherry just like the old days.
