Everybody loves shopping. Who doesn’t? And while you’re on it, wouldn’t it be good to know that while you shop for your favorite items, you get cashback rewards from your receipts?
That’s what Snapcart does. Southeast Asia’s first real-time shopper engagement mobile app allows brands to connect with its consumers directly by simply analyzing data from shopping receipts.
Rolled out last August 2016 in the country, the mobile app has now around 97,000 downloads on Android and is now available on iOS. Snapcart gives its users cashback incentives by taking a snap of receipts from groceries, pharmacies, and cosmetics. Users van cash out through phone credits (prepaid loads), bank-to-bank transfer, and vouchers such as Zalora. In return, data gathered from receipts provide real-time shopper insights to the app’s partner brands.
Receipts should not be more than 7-day old to be accepted and earn cashback. The more receipts you snapped on Snapcart, the more cashback rewards are added on your Snapcart account.
We were given the opportunity to meet the people behind Snapcart last March 23 when they held the Snapcart iOS launch at Discovery Primea in Makati City. We had a great time talking to Reynazran Royono, Founder & CEO, Snapcart and Teresa ‘Mayeth’ Condicion, Co-founder & Chief Data Officer, Snapcart. Rey is Indonesian while Mayeth is a Filipina who both met during their stint in P&G in the country. Together with other founding members, Rey and Mayeth put up Snapcart on September 2015 in Indonesia which is now growing with 75 partner brands of fast-moving consumer goods in Southeast Asia.
“There is no difference in feature between Android and iOS version, users in both systems will receive the same features. The subtle differences will be in the user interface design, due to the different design guidelines from Google and Apple,” says Rey.
With Snapcart being available on both iOS and Android devices, “We want to be able to have 5 times what our current providers, current data providers in the Philippines are able to create. So, we want to be able to have more than 50,000 active users by the end of the year. I think we’re very much on the right track to reach that,” positively shared by Mayeth.
