Okay. Tobey Maguire’s webslinger paid attention closest to the costume of the Amazing Spider-Man but what we can say more to Tom Holland’s version is the childhood feel that resonates with the look of Queens’ friendly neighborhood superhero in this film franchise from what it is in the cartoon and comic book.
Tobey was the closest Spider-Man we had until Tom came along.
Watching Spider-Man: Homecoming makes you feel drawn into the cartoon and comic book nostalgia.
Even celebrity host and entrepreneur RJ Ledesma noticed interesting similarities to Spider-Man: Homecoming from its cartoon and comic book counterpart.
“There were two scenes in the new Spider-Man: Homecoming that made me cry comic geek tears of joy. First, the use of the 60s Spider-Man theme song as the Marvel Studios icon flashed across the screen (why did it take this long for the theme song to be officially used in a Spider-Man movie!?). Second, the scene in the movie that homaged the classic Stan Lee/Steve Ditko story where he motivated himself to escape a pile of rubble that collapsed all over him.
For me, this is the character that best captured the classic Spider-Man. And glad to know that Spidey’s wingman is of Pinoy descent:),” RJ posted on his Facebook.
RJ himself is an icon in the local entertainment industry and he knows a lot when it comes to comic book characters.
That scene in that movie RJ mentioned was from Issue #33 Amazing Spider-Man. Yup. Geeking out here.
And we totally agree, 100% on what he thinks of the Spider-Man: Homecoming movie.
Thanks to OPPO Philippines we were able to see the movie in 4DX Cinema at Central Square in BGC last Friday night. It was fun and an entertaining ride to see Spidey once again in the big screen. Although the cinema experience was kind of exhausting due to the augmented reality effects, moviegoers came out of the cinema with all the smiles on their faces.
Sony and Marvel Studios nailed it this time together (Oh, let’s not forget Disney who also owns Marvel is also part of this deal), owing to the fact that Marvel already sold all the Spider-Man license to Sony. Needless to say, Marvel wont be earning any from box office sales of Spider-Man: Homecoming. But. Marvel gets to use Tom Holland and the rest of the Avengers in this movie. Let’s see where this partnership deal gets us to in the coming MCU franchise.

In the beginning, we had doubts about the whole movie and we thought ‘Nah! It’s just another Spider-Man movie and it’s not going to excite us at all.”
But we were wrong.
Go out and check out the cinemas and watch Spider-Man: Homecoming. If you’re a fan of the classic Spider-Man, you’ll be glad why this movie was given the homecoming it truly deserves.
