90’s RnB Rewind with SWV and TLC in Manila

 

 As a loud and proud 90’s kid, my taste in music wasn’t limited to grunge and pop. I’m also a fan of 90’s R&B, hence I was one of those sentimental Pinoys who felt the excitement of finally seeing two legendary female R&B groups perform for the first time in Manila – SWV and TLC. The Dawn: Nothing Beats the Orig

 

 I would say 2016 is turning out to be another great year for OPM. The first ever Pinoy rock band that I enjoyed listening to while growing up in the 80’s, The Dawn, just welcomed back lead guitarist Francis “Kiko” Reyes (a.k.a. DJ Francis Brew of NU107) and bassist Carlos “Caloy” Balcells.  “Rivermaya reunion happened while you were sleeping last night” That was the catch phrase Roxanne Nebres, concert photographer, posted on her Facebook page, accompanying a video of the song “Himala” performed by no-less than the original members of the 90s rising Pinoy Rock era band, Rivermaya. Perf De Castro, Nathan Azarcon, Mark Escueta, and Rico Blanco reunited last night at 19 East of what could be a sign for an upcoming reunion in the future.
