With the fast-rising technology and modern gadgets, learning has becoming more adapt with these new technologies. Students rely on the internet for research and to get more information on the subject they are looking for.

Teachers rely on hard-bound books and reading materials available in the library. But what if, teachers aim to become better educators with help from online? Wouldn’t that be great?

Jerry Catabijan, who’s been in the textbook publishing business for over 47 years, sought for ideas on how to help teachers by providing information and materials to further their learning online in order to become better at what they do.

He put up www.better.com.ph – the CSR website of his company, Saint Mary’s Publishing Corporation (SMPC), where he is the company’s president.

Launched only last year, www.bebetter.com.ph, provides free articles on a variety of topics like teaching tips, book features, profiles on writers and other educators. Developed by a dedicated editorial team, the website also has other contributing writers who are teachers themselves with the likes of Ginny de Guzman del Rosario, who is an English teacher for sixth grade students at Immaculate Conception Academy, San Juan; Catalina Purugganan Tiu, a professor of English; Joel Toledo, acclaimed author of three books of poetry: Chiaroscuro, The Long Lost Startle, and Ruins and Reconstructions – just to name a few. Be Better still and welcomes more contributors.

SMPC President Jerry Vicente Catabijan describes Be Better as a steady companion for teachers, allowing them to keep up-dated and on the right track in these present times.

In time with the holiday, this is a perfect gift that teachers can give back for their students. Commitment is the greatest gift that they can give to the world, others say it’s the countless sacrifices they make. But above all, it’s the students as gifts to the world whom teachers have built and mold beyond the seasons. For more information, visit http://www.bebetter.com.ph/gift.php.

Likewise, SMPC President Jerry Vicente Catabijan invites everyone out there who is in the field of education, or simply has an interest in education, to check out www.bebetter.com.ph and Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/BeBetterPhil.
