TWITTER CITY PH OPENS IN MIND MUSEUM

No other country embraces Twitter much more like the Philippines. Agree?

The title sums up and suggests the impact of popularity of the social media platform Twitter in the Philippines; lifted from the statement of Rishi Jaitly, Vice President – Media, Asia Pacific & Middle East, Twitter, when he introduced Twitter City in the country a couple of days ago. Twitter City Philippines is the first experiential and temporary space in the Asia Pacific region, launched in Mind Museum.

Installed at the The Mind Museum in a private space, #TwitterCityPH comprises of different buildings and interactive zones (i.e. a photobooth area #SelfieMuna, a classroom with the Twitter #FlightSchool training, a Twitter #Trending Frenzy Wall, an #AlDub TV Booth, a basketball court, a #FoodStrip, and #PiliPinasDebates2016 podiums to name a few) as well as city street signs, and local transportation allowing visitors to immerse themselves into local culture and discover facts about how Twitter is integrated into Filipinos’ daily lives.

As Twitter is the live connection to Filipino culture, it’s no wonder that the 2015 Golden Tweet for the Philippines comes from the AlDub social TV sensation. Yaya Dub’s Tweet had over 76,000 Retweets and was viewed nearly 2.4 million times on Twitter:

Jaitly expounded how Twitter has also became a platform of commercial intent as audience Tweets while watching on TV. “Twitter becomes a live connection between TV and entertainment,” shared Jaitly. “2016 will be an exciting year for Twitter in the Philippines and there’s never been a better time for Filipinos to be on Twitter today. From the upcoming #TwitterElection and other news, sports, TV, and entertainment moments in the Philippines this year, you can be sure that Twitter will be the first service people and the media use to see what’s happening in the world, direct from the source and live as it unfolds.”

Every piece of culture in the world happens on Twitter, every second of every day, and a whole lot of Filipino culture will happen on Twitter in 2016 – ranging from entertainment such as Miss Universe’s homecoming trip, to politics with COMELEC for the first-ever #TwitterElection in the Philippines, to basketball such as PBA and the FIBA World Olympic Men’s Qualifying Tournament, and much more.

Twitter will also help brands create a live connection to their customers, to people’s passions, and ultimately, to Filipino culture. This kind of connection is possible because of Twitter’s influential live audience, premium live reach, and live creative canvas. No other service offers this combination to marketers.

Additional trivia:

  • 82% of world leaders are on Twitter
  • There are 820 million premium users on Twitter
  • 80% uses Twitter via mobile devices
