A graduate of Bachelor in Science in Economics from the University of the Philippines (UP) and a Senior Product Manager from a pharmaceuticals company, the 27 year old Jonathan Allen Yabut wins the first The Apprentice Asia, a business oriented reality game show joined by 12 aspiring apprentices to AirAsia Group CEO. Tony Fernandes hires Jonathan Yabut to be his apprentice leaving behind another hopeful, Andrea Loh, lawyer from Singapore.
Andrea, during the final viewing party of the Season Finale held in Manila, July 31, Wednesday night, sincerely hope that people will see more of her in the future despite her loss to Jonathan. “It was a good fight to the end,” said Andrea, who was the youngest among the 12 contenders of The Apprentice Asia.
Everyone watching the Season Finale last night were all catching their breathes waiting for the final words that will come out from Fernandes‘ lips. “I’m changing my mind, as each of you speak. The decision will probably surprise many people. It’s a tough decision. On the balance of everything, as you go find me, seeing you perform, hearing your passion… Jonathan Yabut, you’re hired!” Those were the exact words that the billionaire made inside the board room. As expected, the Filipino contender emerged as winner.
Another Filipino contestant, Celina Le Neindre, was fired during Episode 7 airing of The Apprentice Asia. The Apprentice Asia is franchised from the hit US reality show by real estate tycoon Donald Trump.
Jonathan dedicated his victory to every Filipino watching and those who have contributed to where he is now. Jonathan inked a one-year work contract; a salary of at least $100,000; and Tony, as his new boss.
