Upwork debuts new features aimed at connecting business with great talent, faster and easier

 

For those who are curious, Upwork is the new Elance-oDesk, the world’s largest freelance talent marketplace. Upwork  introduces a new freelance talent platform called Upwork Talent. With this, Upwork freelancer have the opportunities to get paid more and allowed to work at their own pace.

This is the first time for Ryan to visit the Philippines and is really excited for the future of Upwork. “Upwork is the way to signify the future ahead of us. Our vision is to connect the world’s opportunity with Upwork’s talents,” he said. “We are happy to connect talents in real time.”

Ryan believes that Upwork will mean more job opportunities for freelancers from the Philippines.

Traditional work models don’t make sense today. Commerce has moved online, and now services like work are too, such as ebay, Uber, and Airbnb.

To date, freelancers in the Philippines earned more than $300M freelancing for Upwork. By 2025, online talent platforms could boost global GDP by $2.7 trillion.

Ryan also introduced the Pro Customer Service Program, one of the fastest growing categories on Upwork. Customer Service Agents is the fastest growing position on its platform based on freelance earnings, growing a year-on-year rate of 92%.

Online work is a viable career option. By connecting talents in the Philippines to businesses around the world, Upwork eliminates geographic barriers and provides millions of Filipinos with access to jobs that they wouldn’t have otherwise.

The average length of Customer Service work is 14 months. 57% of Upwork CS clients are in the US, 67% of talent hired comes from the Philippines.

In addition, Upwork also established the Pro Customer Service Group, an exclusive, private group of vetted customer service professionals with key benefits like access to some of high paying jobs.
