The Japanese restaurant in Greenhills is celebrating its 4th year anniversary and is now opening a new chapter in its story. Wafu, the brainchild of Brian Tiu, the visionary behind brands such as Teriyaki Boy, Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken, and Ichiba: Japanese Market, prides himself in being an International Trend Spotter and Local Trend Setter. Through his vision, Wafu was created in a two storey building in the heart of Greenhills, Wafu sought to redefine the Japanese dining experience by combining deliciously authentic Japanese cuisine with posh and stylish interiors. We were there when it first opened in 2012.
Today as Wafu marks its 4th year, the restaurant unveils a new and improved Wafu, featuring a new executive chef, a new menu, better ingredients airflown straight from Japan, and a slew of upcoming activities.
In line with its 4th Anniversary, Wafu introduces its new Executive Chef, Onishi Nobuyoshi, or Chef Nobu. Not related with the hotel brand, Chef Nobu hails from Osaka and moved to Tokyo to pursue his dream of becoming a Master Sushi Chef. He achieved more than 30 years of experience working in prestigious sushi restaurants in the Ginza Tokyo area. Prior to coming to Wafu to head the kitchen team, Chef Nobu was a Master Sushi Chef of the highly prestigious Midori Sushi. Now, Chef Nobu, lends his years of experience to ensure that every dish served in Wafu follow the highest standards of quality and authenticity.
Last May 16, we were invited to try and taste the newest items from the new Wafu menu. Featuring improved Wafu favorites as well as all new items, the new Wafu menu will give customers the experience of the authentic taste of Japanese cuisine. Part of the new menu consists of Cold Platter, Hot Platter, Vegetable Platter, Sushi Platter Take, Makimono Platter, and Tempura Platter.
And better still, the new Wafu menu phases out the old Wafu Elite Card, and the discount normally associated with the card has been applied directly to the menu, making great Japanese food now more affordable.
The dishes themselves, have their own story, and their story begins at the source. The secret to great Japanese cuisine is the ingredients. The fresher and better the quality, the better the experience. That’s why at Wafu, we air fly our ingredients straight from Japan. The choicest ingredients and the freshest catch of the day, are picked and air flown straight to Chef Nobu and his team in Wafu. Through their skilled hands, these choice ingredients are then artfully crafted into an authentic experience that celebrates Japanese culture with every bite.
The story doesn’t end there though. Wafu celebrates it’s 4th anniversary with three major celebrations this year.

Traffic wearing you down? Or simply looking for a place to wind the day down? Look no further. At Wafu, 5pm – 8pm is happy hour. Enjoy unlimited servings of your favorite Japanese street food such as Yakitori, Sashimi and Rolls. Then wash them all down with unlimited draft beer or Japanese
