Today, September 30, Western Union created Guinness World Records World’s Largest Coin Mosaic as they successfully top UK and United States recent world records. Guinness World Records judge Jack Brockbank personally check and carefully supervised Western Union‘s attempt on the record-breaking coin mosaic as the company celebrates 25th year of service in the Philippines.
The preparation to build the coin mosaic lasted overnight and displayed at The Elements in Centris, Quezon City before it was presented to Guinness World Records representative. The image of a Philippine Flag with a dove and logo marking Western Union’s 25th year was formed by 500,000 pieces of coins of various denominations of 5 and 10 centavo copper coins; bronze colored 25 centavos coin; silver finish of PhP 1; gold finish of PhP 5; and dual tone gold face of PhP 10 coins. The total amount will be part of Western union’s Technology Aiding the Nation’s Youth to Accelerate Growth program or TANYAG which will be provided to 25 public schools, with five in Metro Manila; ten in Luzon; six in the Visayas; and four in Mindanao.
Western Union started operations in the Philippines in 1990 and has expanded to more than 8000 locations nationwide. Across the globe, Western Union has over 500,000 agent locations in over 200 countries and territories.
